I went to the VA Hospital in La Jolla, California yesterday to fill a prescription and get a new knee brace. While I was there, I asked if they had any Iraq War vets as inpatients. I was told that there were. I then asked if they were receiving enough mail. That was probably a stupid question, because you never get enough mail when youre in the military.
It seems that the majority of letter writing campaigns were focused on the vets at Walter Reed, Bethesda Naval Hospital, and those presently in country. We need to let the rest of these vets know they are not forgotten. I think that those who lost something deserve a little more from us.
Here are the addresses for the San Diego area hospitals. There are many more throughout the country. Please take the time to say Thank you.
Naval Medical Center Attn: Any Iraq War inpatient 34800 Bob Wilson Drive San Diego, CA 92134
Dept. of Veteran Affairs VA San Diego Healthcare System Any Iraq War Inpatient -or- SCI Iraq War Inpatient (spinal cord injury) 3350 La Jolla Village Dr. San Diego, CA 92161
THANK YOU
thank you for thinking of this and letting us know. this is just the sort of thing i want to do to show my appreciation.
Good post, great idea. Any clue as to how many of our brave troops are in the VA at La Jolla?
Thank you for your service.
There is quite a few. The Spinal Cord Injury ward had me in tears.
See my FReepmail.

Thanks DW
Thanks for the ping!
We can add the addresses to Operation Valentine's Day. We have a lot of schoolchildren participating. I hope they will enjoy all the cards the kids have been making. The majority will go to our Troops in Iraq, but I'm sure we'll have plenty to send to the hospitals!
VETERANS SALUTE Bump
Thanks for the alert.
I have a stack of magazines and books. Would they be interested in that?
Thanks so much for this important information.
They might need an "ADOPT" program there, please let us know what we can do.
p.s. I am a Gold Medal Olympian at finding raunchy funny cards...Hallmark has me on the Ten Most Wanted List!
BTT
Thanks!
What a great idea....thanks Marine!
Magazines and books are great. They last longer than a letter, gives them something to talk about, and can be shared with each other.
Thanks darkwing for the ping.
How about CDs and personal CD players with headphones?
Don't know, but I'll get an answer on Monday and FReepmail you.
Thanks. The reason I asked about the CD players is that Walmart has a TON of them for $9.95. I bought one and it's just as good as the more expensive models. If it's okay I could buy a few and ship them out.
Please include me in the FReepmail. Thanks so much for this.
