Winchester continues its reputation as a wedding mecca in Virginia.
Linda Tripp, who caught the nation's attention during the Monica Lewinsky episode of President Clintons second term, came to the Winchester Circuit Clerks office to obtain a marriage license Dec. 30.
I asked her if she was THE Linda Tripp and she said yes, reported Will Gardner, deputy clerk of the court.
I was curious about how many people could have that name, Gardner said. He didnt recognize her physically but did remember the name when he was typing up the license.
Gardner said she seemed a little anxious once he asked about her identity.
Both bride and groom, Dieter Hermann, were cordial to the staff at the clerks office and wished them a happy holiday before trekking across the street to the Valley Wedding Chapel at 201 E. Boscawen St.
Gary Patterson,co-owner of the chapel for 10 years with his wife, Sherry, did not recognize her nor the name. When he took the license to the clerks office, they told him who she was.
When they brought it my attention, I thought Wow.
She looked familiar to Patterson but he couldnt figure out where he had seen her before.
The couple really wanted to get married and said they were in love, Patterson added.
They came walking up when I was putting the closed sign on the door and asked if they were too late, Patterson said.
They purchased the stripped-down model, $30 wedding, that takes about three minutes, Patterson said. There were no pictures and no one else came with them.
The couple said they will have a religious ceremony later in the year.
Sherry Patterson also didnt recognize Tripp or even the name. I write so many names that hers didnt click.
Sherry is planning an all out campaign to get celebrities to come to the chapel to be married. With the services available here for private planes, she feels it would be a great location for those wanting a quick marriage.
Were contacting a publicist in Beverly Hills to sell the idea of coming to Winchester to be married, Sherry said.
That should be Mary 'Me So' Mahoney
Sticky Willy had an eye for easy interns.
No she did not.
She refused to lie.
In terms of Clinton she did the right thing but not in terms of her friend.
I would not make her out to be a hero though.
Linda Tripp told the truth. What do you think she should have done?
Let's see. People DIE who are alone in knowing secrets about the Clintons. If coincidences, there are a lot of coincidences. See the Clinton death list for instances where this has happened.
Put yourself in Monica's place, just for moment, if you can handle it. You have been diddling with the President. You and he are the only ones who know it. All you have to prove it is a stained blue dress. It begins to threaten national security because he likes to run his mouth. Law enforcement charged with the security of the country are told about your diddling with the President. They question you, you tell the truth, but you have no proof, you have washed the dress. You testify about it. The President lies about you, because he doesn't remember he left his DNA on the dress at one time. It has become public. It is just your word against his. You have no proof. The Clintons later sue you for defamation and extract all the money from you and your parents they can get, and you go down in history as a perjurer. The real perjurer goes free. And in case you think it isn't a grave matter for the Commander in Chief of this country to place himself in a compromising position with women, think again. A CIC being blackmailed by international thugs, enemies and hooligans is not a laughing matter, and can end in tragic results like 9/11 where thousands of people lose their lives to pay the price for Clinton's jollies (and maybe did on 9/11).
Not worth arguing with a friend over. Cheers.
I'm really happy that she has found happiness. The poor woman was just brutalized for doing the right thing that few of us would have had the courage to do. May they live happily ever after!
I believe you have your own agenda in being here.......troll
They were not "friends"; knew each other at work. "Taped" equals self-preservation.
Good question.
I suppose it depends on what I believe and what I value.
Obviously I have never been in that situation. I do not think anyone in that whole episode came out loking clean and fresh.
Question: If the Clintons are out killing their opponents does this mean the the Bushes are too?
That is exactly what happened.
..and just consider you uninterested in the facts.
Others can keep pointing out the truths to you.....although you continue on your one note questioning.
LOL
Not a troll but thank you for immediately reducing my opinion of you to zilch.
TBH I have no set opinions with regards to this matter. Just don't think everyone smells of roses.
#31...your last sentence is over the line and unconscionable!
Monica Lewinsky doesn't deserve one ounce of sympathy because she knew the man she was fooling around with was 1) a married man; 2) held the most powerful position on the earth and 3)had a history with many women (ie: bimbo eruptions). Tripp was a whistleblower and the press destroyed her while the whistleblower in the Enron case made Times Person of the Year! What hypocrisy!
Sounds like a great person.
Probably a better person than either Monica or Bubba was/ are. Monica had had at least one other affair w/ a married man before bubba...some doctor or dentist in CA IIRC. And who knows how many such liasions bubba had had.
Bottom line is that if Monica had wanted it to remain a secret, she wouldn't have told anyone. But getting it on w/ the most powerful man in the US, perhaps the world, is, in a way, a trophy and what good is a trophy if you can't display it & collect bragging rights? My conclusion is that Monica wanted to be famous & that she got what she wanted.
Am I right about...?, you asked. Hardly.
Actually, Monica asked Linda to go before a grand jury and lie, to tell the grand jury the opposite of what Monica had been dumping in Linda's ear for months about her trysts with President Bill. Linda was being called as a witness in the Paula Jones lawsuit case, a role she had not in the least sought out. But since she had witnessed Kathleen Willey coming out of the Oval Office disheveled as if she had been ? with Bill, and this was known, and Paula's lawyers were looking for patterns of behaviour by Bill with women,
Linda was put on the witness list.
Monica told her that the President wanted her(Linda) to lie if she was asked about Bill and Kathleen or Bill and Monica. Linda taped at some point when she began to fear that she would be made a liar if she told the truth, without evidence, and she began to fear for her life. I suppose you would have gone before the grand jury and lied, if you were Linda.
Now you can go away; your damage is done but your game is over.
