Linda Tripp Visits City For Nuptials
Winchester Star ^ | January 8, 2004 | F.C. Lowe

Posted on 01/08/2005 4:11:47 AM PST by Quilla

Winchester continues its reputation as a wedding mecca in Virginia.

Linda Tripp, who caught the nation's attention during the Monica Lewinsky episode of President Clinton’s second term, came to the Winchester Circuit Clerk’s office to obtain a marriage license Dec. 30.

“I asked her if she was THE Linda Tripp and she said yes,” reported Will Gardner, deputy clerk of the court.

“I was curious about how many people could have that name,” Gardner said. He didn’t recognize her physically but did remember the name when he was typing up the license.

Gardner said she seemed a little anxious once he asked about her identity.

Both bride and groom, Dieter Hermann, were cordial to the staff at the clerk’s office and wished them a happy holiday before trekking across the street to the Valley Wedding Chapel at 201 E. Boscawen St.

Gary Patterson,co-owner of the chapel for 10 years with his wife, Sherry, did not recognize her nor the name. When he took the license to the clerk’s office, they told him who she was.

“When they brought it my attention, I thought ‘Wow.’”

She looked familiar to Patterson but he couldn’t figure out where he had seen her before.

The couple really wanted to get married and said they were in love, Patterson added.

“They came walking up when I was putting the closed sign on the door and asked if they were too late,” Patterson said.

They purchased the “stripped-down” model, $30 wedding, that takes about three minutes, Patterson said. There were no pictures and no one else came with them.

The couple said they will have a religious ceremony later in the year.

Sherry Patterson also didn’t recognize Tripp or even the name. “I write so many names that hers didn’t click.”

Sherry is planning an all out campaign to get celebrities to come to the chapel to be married. With the services available here for private planes, she feels it would be a great location for those wanting a quick marriage.

“We’re contacting a publicist in Beverly Hills to sell the idea of coming to Winchester to be married,” Sherry said.

Didn't she sell Lewinsky down the river?

Linda Tripp honorably chose to tell the truth rather than lie under oath. For that she is a heroine and good role model.

What a strong woman Linda Tripp must be. To this day, folks still attack her as some of the deleted comments on this thread attest. Actually, the entire thread disappeared for a day or so and remarkably reappeared when I checked "My comments" this morning.

Linda Tripp is a heroine, Monica is a tramp. It's just that simple!

"You are a few posts short of a thread my dear!"

I did read all of your posts.

Still waiting for an apology for saying what you did about President Bush.

You are totally off the wall with your logic!

I did not say anything about Bush. My comments were generalised and aimed at any President or Presidential candidate.

All I have said is that I do not trust Politicians.
I like Bush as he has a good foriegn policy.
That does not mean I think he is the greatest person in the world.

Politics is a slimy business.

Quilla, good morning and thank you for such a good news post. I too wish Linda, and her husband-to-be, all the absolute best. May she always have happiness and joy and know, without a doubt, that MANY Americans greatly respect her dare to be decent and truthful and strong in the face of such ugly, threatening menace.

Hoping you and yours are well and happy also, Quilla.

Didn't she sell Lewinsky down the river?

She had to. As I recall, she was getting drawn into testifying for the Paula Jones trial. Why? Because her testimony would be used to establish a lascivious "pattern of behavior" by Clinton. I think it was Newsweek's Isikoff who was interviewing someone and it came out that when Clinton made his imfamous pass at Kathleen Willey, Tripp was the first one that Kathleen Willey encountered after Willey left Clinton's office that day and Willey told Tripp what had just happened.

Tripp was going to be subpoenaed to testify and came under pressure and threats "higher up", shall we say? I think some of this was transmitted to her via Monica. Anyway, Tripp recorded Monica in order to protect herself.

It is a fair point. I am a Bush supporter but I am not so naive to think that if the last President was bumping people off then the current one won't be.

"I am right in thinking she pretended to be her friend, lied to her then told all to the authorities that be?
Sounds like a great person."

She didn't "pretend" to be Monica's friend. She told Monica to quit calling her and whining. Monica wouldn't quit stalking her and/or STFU. So she taped her, which resulted in confirming to America that we had a lying pervert in the White House. The tapes also most likely saved Monica's life considering that others who had dalliances with Bubba fell victim to Arkancide. After Linda released the tapes there was no way people were going to buy Monica's "suicide" by a shot to the back of the head.

Linda IS a great person; you should be so great.

You are not the first person to point this out today.
In fact you are about the Fiftieth.

I do not understand why people reply to posts from days ago without checking the latest ones out first.

I always read the first one, get a bit angry, then read the rest of them. this is recommended as it has stopped me putting my foot in it time and time again.
