Memorial Service For The Unborn On Jan. 16 On Vance Road

A memorial service to honor babies that were aborted will begin at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, at the National Memorial for the Unborn, 6230 Vance Road.

The site is adjacent to AAA Women’s Services.

Officials said, "Jan. 16, 2005 marks the 32nd anniversary of the tragic U.S. Supreme Court decision, Roe v.Wade and its companion case, Doe v. Bolton. These two cases removed the right of the states to restrict abortion-on demand, including late-term abortions performed on viable fetuses. More than forty-three million abortions have been performed since those rulings. That is the population of 17 states in this nation. We have lost an entire generation.

"Chattanooga is known nationally for its pro-life community. Since 1993, it has been the largest city in the United States without a freestanding abortion clinic. The former clinic now houses AAA Women’s Services, Chattanooga’s pregnancy care center and the office of the National
Memorial for the Unborn.

"The National Memorial for the Unborn, a 50-foot granite enclosed wall bearing plaques by residents of all 50 states and Canada is in memory of children lost to abortion. On this same site approximately 35,000 children were aborted while it was the abortion clinic."

A new book with "stories of hope and healing" from The Wall, called "Empty Arms," will be available for purchase at the SOHLS Sunday service. It has just come off the press, it was stated.

The Worst Constitutional Decision of All Time

"As noted before, the Supreme Court did not invent abortion. There might be plenty of abortion, perhaps authorized or permitted by state laws, even without Roe and Casey. Moreover, the Court is, arguably, not directly responsible for the wrong moral choices of individuals that the Court's decisions permit. Finally, the Court is not responsible - cannot be responsible, consistent with its constitutional role - for correcting all injustices, even grave ones. But the Court is responsible for the injustices that it inflicts on society that are not consistent with, but in fact betray, its constitutional responsibilities. To the extent that the Court has invalidated essentially all legal restriction of abortion, it has authorized private violence on a scale, and of a kind, that unavoidably evokes the memories of American slavery and of the Nazi Holocaust. And by cloaking that authorization in the forms of the law - in the name of the Supreme Law of the Land - the Court has taught the American people that such private violence is a right and, by clear implication, that it is alright. Go ahead. The Constitution is on your side. This is among your most cherished constitutional freedoms. Nobody ought to oppose you in your action. We have said so.

The decision in Casey, reaffirming Roe and itself reaffirmed and extended in Carhart, in my view exposes the Supreme Court, as currently constituted, as a lawless, rogue institution capable of the most monstrous of injustices in the name of law, with a smugness and arrogance worthy of the worst totalitarian dictatorships of all time. The Court, as it stands today, has, with its abortion decisions, forfeited its legal and moral legitimacy as an institution. It has forfeited its claimed authority to speak for the Constitution. It has forfeited its entitlement to have its decisions respected, and followed, by the other branches of government, by the states, and by the People. The enthusiasm of liberal intelligentsia for the Court's abortion decisions, the sycophancy of the law professorate, of the legal profession, and of our elected officials, and the docility of the American people with respect to our lawless, authoritarian Court rivals the pliancy of the most cowardly, servile peoples toward ruinous, brutal, anti-democratic regimes throughout world history. We suffer people to commit despicable acts of private violence and we welcome - some of us revere - a regime that destroys popular government for the sake of perverted, Orwellian notions of "liberty." After a twentieth century that saw some of the worst barbarisms and atrocities ever committed by humankind, at a time when humankind supposedly had progressed to more enlightened states, we still have not learned. The lesson of the Holocaust - "Never Forget" - is lost. We fail to recognize the amazing capacity of human beings to commit unthinkable, barbaric evil, and of others to tolerate it. We remember and are aghast at the atrocities of others, committed in the past, or in distant lands today. But we do not even recognize the similar atrocities that we ourselves commit, and tolerate, today."Michael Stokes Paulsen, The Worst Constitutional Decision of All Time, 78 Notre Dame L. Rev. 995, 1003-1007 (2003).

Confronting the Imperial Judiciary (Pro-Family & Pro-Life)

Never in our history have unaccountable federal judges wielded more power over our lives.

Judicial activism, the practice of judges ignoring the law and deciding cases based on their personal political views, has intensified in the decades since Roe v. Wade. This practice is now standard for many federal judges. They dismiss the doctrine of strict construction as hopelessly outdated, instead treating the Constitution as fluid and malleable to create a desired outcome in any given case. For judges who see themselves as social activists, their vision of justice is more important than the letter of the laws they are sworn to interpret and uphold. With the federal judiciary focused more on promoting a social agenda than upholding the rule of law, Americans find themselves increasingly governed by men they did not elect and cannot remove from office.

But what is to be done? Since many citizens lack basic knowledge of our Constitution and federalist system We the People Act(HR 3893 IH), they are easily manipulated by media and academic elites who tell them that judges are the absolute and final arbiters of US law. But the Supreme Court is not supreme over the other branches of government; it is supreme only over lower federal courts. If Americans wish to be free of judicial tyranny, they must at least develop basic knowledge of the judicial role in our republican government We the People Act(HR 3893 IH). The present state of affairs is a direct result of our collective ignorance.

The ultimate solution to the problem of unbridled judicial activism at the federal level is clear: Congress must reassert its constitutional authority to define and restrict the jurisdiction of federal courts. This power is plainly granted in Article III We the People Act(HR 3893 IH), and no constitutional amendments are required. On the contrary, any constitutional amendment addressing judicial activism would only grant legitimacy to the dangerous idea that social issues are federal matters. Remember, when social issues are federalized, conservatives always lose. Giving more authority over social matters to any branch of the federal government is a mistake, because a centralized government is unlikely to reflect local sentiment for long.

Congressional cowardice enables judicial activism. Just as Congress ceded far too much legislative authority to presidents throughout the 20th century, it similarly has allowed federal judges to operate wildly beyond their constitutional role. In fact, many current members of Congress apparently accept the false notion that federal court judgments are superior to congressional statutes. Unless and until Congress asserts itself by limiting federal court jurisdictionWe the People Act(HR 3893 IH), judges will continue to act as de facto lawmakers.

The political left increasingly uses the federal judiciary to do in court what it cannot do at the ballot box: advance an activist, secular, multicultural political agenda of which most Americans disapprove. As a society we should reconsider the wisdom of lifetime tenure for federal judges, and pay closer attention to the judicial nomination procedure. It's time for the executive and legislative branches to show some backbone, appoint judges who follow the Constitution, and remove those who do not. It's also time for Congress to start establishing clear limits on federal judicial power.

How they brought about the National Memorial for the Unborn should as well.

In most places, people come out on Friday or Saturday on days unborn babies are murdered.

In Chattanooga, people from a number of churches would come out.

The short story of the memorial is as follows:

The woman who owned the abortion mill came down with terminal cancer. The pro-lifers tried to visit her and get her to convert to Christianity -- she refused. Just before she died, she did not turn the abortion mill property to her husband but a high school girlfriend. Shortly after she died, the high school girlfriend came down with terminal cancer, and refused any spiritual help by the pro-lifers. She died with it being turned over to the courts to be sold at auction.

The abortionist running the mill tried to buy it, and even scoffed at the pro-lifers who grouped together to buy it to close it down.

The pro-lifers pulled all the cash they could together and wrote checks for every penny they had.

The bidding eventually started going up in $5000 increments.

The abortionist dropped out at the point the pro-lifers could not go any higher.

With the clinic [abortion mill], the pro-lifers got all the equipment inside...

You can arrange to have a tour of this place. Once could easily see Lookout Mountain and this Memorial on the same day... Or go to some other fine places in Chattanooga...

#12...Yes, Chattanooga, Tennessee.

topher....amazing!

I knew some of the story, but not all, and you've filled in the rest!

My stomping grounds in high school was around the Vance Road area....Tyner...etc.

I am so proud of you all!

We tried to do the same thing here...(Florida)...

...years of our church (& others) faithfully keeping watchful prayer in front of our local abortion facility.

...and God answers prayers in His own way...we know...

..the abortion mill was finally torn down because they decided to widen the road...(it was on a main state highway)....and that was that!!!

topher....amazing!

[snip]

I am so proud of you all!

I just took a tour last year, and tried to help them out. I was not a prayer warrior for this cause.

I am an odd ball in Pro-Life... Six months after getting involved in Pro-Life, I was involved and met Norma McCorvey [during her conversion in August 1995].

Then I moved to Louisiana and Georgia... Now I have moved yet another time, and I am around very high power pro-lifers...

Well okay. I live in a purple state - mostly red with five or six blue counties on the west side.

I do find it a little annoying Rush Limbaugh can't even pronouce Her Fraudulence's name, that he said the Mariners won the Wild Card in 1995 when in fact they won the division, and other little nits. Right now, we've got the hottest thing going in politics...
