Kid Rock at Inaugural 'Shocking'
NewsMax.com ^ | Jan. 6, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

A scheduled appearance by vulgar rock-rapper Kid Rock at a Bush inauguration concert hosted by Bush daughters Jenna and Barbara has shocked conservative supporters.

The rapper’s lyrics often focus on the recreational nature of sex and send a message of female sexual exploitation. In 2000 he appeared in a porn film with well-known porn stars, and he was named the Sluttiest Male Celebrity by MTV.

According to Donald E. Wildmon, chairman of the American Family Association, the White House has sent a shocking statement to the millions of families who supported his re-election.

"Kid Rock is an inexcusable choice,” Wildmon said. "His music lyrics serve to teach our young men to disrespect women in a most vile, self serving manner. There's no compassionate conservatism in that philosophy.”

"Obviously, someone on the Presidential Inauguration Committee has made an extremely poor judgment call. The Committee should cancel this invitation immediately,” Wildmon said.

Kid rock was chosen to appear because he was a supporter of President Bush's re-election campaign.

It's like rationalizing with a DUer with a 6th Grade "education."

It's not worth it, believe me.

At least with KR you get what you see. It's a little more honest than some of the people who pretend to be right upstanding citizens publically and are adulterous horndogs privately...

Do you know what song it is that Kid Rock would be performing in order to deem it inappropriate?

Why are you scolding the poster? All he did is post the article. Guess you'll have to find somebody else to reprimand.

I'm also going to guess the 'base' didn't care much for W jokingly flipping the bird or Cheney throwing F-bombs at Leaky Leahy.

Relax. Kid Rock supports the troops, drinks Coors Light, and dates hot women. There are younger GOPs like me who find that fairly impressive.

But people who reflect and care about Bush's, and his supporters', values should be able to VETO performances by inappropriate acts. And in fact should.
____________________________________________________________

I'm not so sure that people that feel as you do are the only ones who support President Bush. FWIW, I do believe that patriotism and support of the troops ARE Bush's values. What makes folks like you (no matter how upstanding) worthy of a veto that people who disagree with you are not? That smacks of snobbery and entitlement, imo.

No offense, but you don't get priority on President Bush's agenda any more than I do. The American people as a whole do. Potty mouths and all.

Your going to hell for being so mean spirited....

You sure don't conduct yourself or your responses with much values in mind.

But hey I'm not surprised.

"Sorry, but to some here if you've EVER ever ever done anything wrong in your life or anything a little tasteless you are to be shunned for all time."

I agree with you, cyncooper. I will be in D.C. for the Inaugural, I would love to see Kid Rock. Kudos to him for supporting our troops.

Ah, one of the advantages of being an old f*rt. Have no idea who kid rock is. Don't care.

Heard of a Chris Rock. The movie the Rock

Rock & Roll of course. Rolling Rock Beer.

Any domestic beer. Any homebrew.

Hmmm... think I'll pop one...

The fact that soldiers, or many of them, like KR says nothing about the quality of the message they convey.
I'm sure that a lot of soldiers like a lot of the scumbag athletes who have become so common in professional sports. For that matter, I'm sure that a lot of them like pornography. What the hell does that prove?

It should not be "good enough for you." Since when do soldiers have moral insights into entertainment that the rest of us do not?

It sure is easy to please you. Simply act like scum and admit you are scum.

Do you not know there are people who actually live decent lives? I guess I must have lived an incredibly sheltered life since I have known a large number of these good and decent people, but I am sure all your buddies just know they are secretly living like the devil.

Just maybe people don't want to see trash like Kerry and his wife running this country.

Bush won in spite of the Christian zealots in the party - not because of them. If they would leave the party and form their own, they would be replaced by a voting block twice their number who have subscribe to conservative ideals but detest the "morality police" aspect of the party.

I am not saying that Christians should leave the party as I have no doubt that most of these zealots are in Christians in name only. They only embrace religion so they can have a rule book to thump those who don't subscribe to the same rule book over the head with it. We have examples in this thread - somehow Kid Rock is "scum".

95% of the Christians are live their own lives and let others live their's. Its the small, vocal minority that scare everyone else off.

...Didn't give you the rest of the info on the 'Whisky-a-Go-Go'...

I prefer "Whisky in the Jar" myself, hehe.

Metallica - Whisky In The Jar Lyrics

As I was going over
The Kork and Kerry mountains
I saw Captain Farrell
And his money he was counting
I first produced my pistol
And then produced my rapier
I said "Stand and deliver
Or the devil he may take you"

I took all of his money
And it was a pretty penny
I took all of his money and
I brought it home to Molly
She swore that she'd love me
No Never would she leave me
But the devil take that woman
For you know she treat me easy

Chorus:

Mush a ring dum a doo dum a da
Whack for my daddy'o
Whack for my daddy'o, there's
Whisky in the jar, o

Being drunk and weary
I went to Molly's chamber
Taking my Molly with me
And i never knew the danger
For about six or maybe seven
In walked Captain Farrell
I jumped up, fired off my pistols
And i shot him with both barrels

Chorus

Now some men like the fishing
And some men like fowling
And some men like to hear
The cannonballs are roaring
Me - I like sleeping
Specially in my Molly's chamber
But here i am in prison,
Here i am with a ball and chain, yeah

Chorus

(There are other versions of this song, but this is the one most people in the USA know.)

Your political analysis is dead wrong, as is your distorted characterization of the religious right's views and expectations. Your post sounds like it came from People for the American Way or the abortion lobby. Can't you do better than this?

They might grow out of it and might be ok for the most part but they sound more than a little spoiled to me.

How out of touch are you? What does drinking have to do with being spoiled? College kids drink - that's what they do.
