Kid Rock too vulgar for inauguration
World Net Daily ^ | January 5, 2005 | Ron Strom

Posted on 01/06/2005 10:49:05 AM PST by 1LongTimeLurker

Kid Rock, a popular vulgar rock-rapper whose lyrics wouldn't begin to pass muster with the Federal Communications Commission, is headlining the youth concert during the inauguration festivities for President Bush – a politician who was re-elected largely due to the participation of traditional "values voters."

The Detroit-based rapper, who dedicated his first album to songs about oral sex and who was voted the Sluttiest Male Celebrity at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards, will perform Jan. 18 at the Washington, D.C., Armory in a concert hosted by Bush daughters Jenna and Barbara. Teenage singer JoJo also will appear at the event.

"Anybody that knows anything about Kid Rock knows that his music is disgusting and vile, and Republicans, and most certainly the Christian Republicans that got Bush re-elected, should be appalled by this," WND reader Dave Parker commented. "At best, it is a horrible oversight by a clueless event organizer. At worst, it is a slap in the face to all who voted for Bush with the belief that he is a more moral person than Kerry."

Kid Rock, aka Robert James Ritchie, has been known to attend Republican events. The New York Times reported that during a party he attended at the Republican National Convention last year, Kid Rock noted that if he were president he would never get caught having sex in the Oval Office, but would instead install cameras in the Lincoln Bedroom.

New York Daily News gossip columnist Lloyd Grover reported on Kid Rock's support for Bush last July. According to the columnist, the rapper was arguing with hip-hop and fashion mogul Russell Simmons and others outside a movie theater about whether or not to see Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11."

"I don't want to see that, it's all propaganda," the rock star said – sparking a prolonged political debate right there on the sidewalk.

"Russell, don't you understand, everything we got in this country, we got from fighting," Kid Rock argued, according to Simmons' account. "It's just a movie. ... I'd rather go to the bar across the street."

Kid Rock refused to see the movie and said goodbye. The others bought tickets and went into the theater.

A couple of hours later, Simmons returned to his parked car. On his windshield was a scribbled note:

"Vote Bush. Bush Rocks," apparently written by Kid Rock himself.

Kid Rock's first album, "Grit Sandwiches for Breakfast," fixates on oral sex, including one song, "Yo Da Lin In The Valley," that describes the lyricist's exploits with multiple women in detail. Another similar tune is "Wax the Booty."

Also featured on his 1990 debut album is "Pimp of the Nation," which ironically takes a swipe at Bush's mother. The lyrics include:

Pimp of the Nation, I could be it As a matter of a fact, I foresee it But only pimpin' hoes with the big tush While you be left pimpin' Barbara Bush

Some of Kid Rock's songs include the F-word in their title, such as "F--- U Blind" and "F--- Off."

The performer's lyrics often center on the recreational nature of sex and speak of women as mere playthings.

According to an online bio, "Kid Rock is noted for his use of adult film stars when he performs (nude when he can get away with it), as Kobe Tai and Jenna Jameson have danced on stage while Kid does his thing."

After reading some of Kid Rock's lyrics, Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families, was outraged the rapper would be a part of the president's festivities.

"I just read Kid Rock's sexually explicit lyrics and feel ashamed and dirty for even looking at his songs," he told WND. "If this sex-crazed animal, whose favorite word is the F-word, is allowed to sing at Bush's inauguration this will send a clear message to pro-family Americans that the Republican Party has taken them for a ride and ditched them in the gutter."

Said Thomasson on the rapper's lyrics: "This is the worst I've ever seen. This guy's singing about how he sexually exploits every girl and then asks them if he can do it with their moms."

Thomasson wondered how "Bush's FCC can take the F-word off TV and fine radio and television networks that cuss on the air and show indecency, and then have the most indecent, sexually explicit, anti-family white singer on the planet representing the second term of George W. Bush."

Thomasson said even if Kid Rock were to perform less offensive songs at the youth concert, his mere presence at a Bush event sends a huge message.

"This is more than inconsistent; it's a sham," he said. "This guy is one of the worst role models for youth imaginable."

Concluded Thomasson: "It makes me angry. … This is a good reason to leave the Republican Party."

The music planned for the actual inauguration ceremony will be decidedly more mainstream. It includes performances by the U.S. Naval Academy Glee Club, the U.S. Marine Band and mezzo-sopranos Denyce Graves and Susan Graham.

There also will be a performance of "Let the Eagles Soar," a song written by Attorney General John Ashcroft.

A staff member of the Presidential Inauguration Committee told WND he himself was surprised about the Kid Rock appearance and said someone would provide the newssite with an official statement. No one from the committee returned the call by press time. The committee is reachable via e-mail at info@inaugural05.com.

I have met Kid Rock and he is one of the most patriotic people I have ever met. I was very impressed by him and I think he is a good choice for the party hosted by the Bush twins.

Mr. Ritchie (Kid Rock) is a huge supporter of our military, as he has played in Iraq, Germany, and other places for the troops. Recently, he hosted a party at his home for soldiers returning from Iraq. He played at the Kennedy Center in front of President Bush, attended an after party with Colin Powell, and played at Gen. Tommy Frank's retirement party.

He also had harsh words for Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi for supporting John Kerry while not ever going and playing for the troops.

Sure, he says the f-word, but I bet he won't at the Bush twins party! So do most people--including VP Dick Cheney! that doesn't mean he is not a conservative. That does not mean he doesn't support our president and our nation!

The people at WND are sadly mistaken about Kid Rock. And quite frankly I get tired of the whiny GOP members who shun people like Mr. Ritchie. He is one of the few celebs who actually support this president. Why would republicans bash him? It makes no sense to me, they're just naive I suppose.

We didn't elect a Pope or a Bishop or even a lowly Pastor. We elected a President.

Why didn't we apply the same standard to Clinton?

Amen! We're not the party of saints, we're the party of right-thinking people. And, I'm not sure if there's anything wrong with me saying "Damn right, I'm a f**king conservative!" : )

He played a benefit concert for the families of victims of the USS Cole bombing. He was a supporter of the troops long before September 11th, and long before it became fashionable for starts to appear patriotic.

Which "we" are you talking about? Since he served a full two terms, apparently we DID apply that standard. He was impeached, but not convicted. He did his full 8 years.

So, if the "we" is the entire country, then I guess that was the standard.

If "we" is just Freepers, you already know that the standard wasn't followed.

Whatever. This is not a matter of state. It's a matter of a party after the Inauguration, and a party designed for young folks. Who really cares if Kid Rock performs there? It's irrelevant.

My wife is a fan of his, I have heard one of his recordings several times, most of it I don't care for but a couple songs are quite good.

Bottom line: I would rather support a pretty-good conservative than a great liberal!!!! (NOT that he's pretty :) )

Some of us did. Personally, I saw the fact that he was having oral sex in the Oval Office as a bad thing since it wasn't the woman he was married to. However, I didn't see that as a legal problem (just a problem between him, Hilary, and God). The legal problem was that he perjured himself.

I read Bush daughter Barbara, who is working on her father's inaugural committee, is behind the youth concert. Like this article stated, he performed at a GOP convention party for Dennis Hastert-which the Bush daughters attended. And the Bush twins seem to be into that sort of cr**-read about their hanging out with Snoop Dogg, Ashton Kutcher episode and Barbara going to naked parties at Yale and hosting a 'Pimps and Hos' party during Sex Week at Yale. This is their style. Kid Rock is also dating a porn star.

As far as I'm concerned, the Bush twins are not relevant to the Bush Presidency. What they do or do not do is of no interest to me whatsoever.

They do have the capacity to cause some embarrassment, I suppose, but that's about it. Let 'em rock on, and ignore 'em.

And the difference between the Dems and Repubs on moral issues is what again?

Im glad he is going... not everyone is offended by lyrics. The republican party need to bring in the younger generation (im one of them). If people make a big deal out of Kid Rock performing thats sad and Im not a huge fan, kids will get turned off by something so dumb as this

So Kid Rock says the F-word. Whaddya want to bet that W says it too, from time to time.

Surely you would agree that there is a significant difference between merely saying it from time to time and recording it for the ages. Most of us have said things that we would never commit to paper.

Regardless, it's not so much the words as it is the concepts, the "pictures he paints" with his lyrics. From what I've read here, there's little of value there, mostly a lot of filth.

I truly look forward to the day when sin in all its forms is nothing but a distant memory. Repent before it's too late.

Quite frankly, I am not familiar with Kid Rock's lyrics. I understand that they're crude, at least on some of the songs. Doesn't matter to me. I don't listen to them. But...and this is important: Young adults listen to Kid Rock. Our troops in Iraq seem to like Kid Rock. He apparently supported Bush strongly during the campaign.

It's the Bush twins' party: I suppose they can invite whomever they wish to perform there. I advise not attending if you don't like the kind of music that will be played there. Myself? I wasn't invited.

Let's move on to stuff that really matters and forget which popular performer is playing at some party.

Actually, the Naval Academy Glee Club is a pretty amazing vocal group. You ought to take a listen.
