Why didn't we apply the same standard to Clinton?
Amen! We're not the party of saints, we're the party of right-thinking people. And, I'm not sure if there's anything wrong with me saying "Damn right, I'm a f**king conservative!" : )
He played a benefit concert for the families of victims of the USS Cole bombing. He was a supporter of the troops long before September 11th, and long before it became fashionable for starts to appear patriotic.
"We didn't elect a Pope or a Bishop or even a lowly Pastor. We elected a President.
Why didn't we apply the same standard to Clinton?"
Which "we" are you talking about? Since he served a full two terms, apparently we DID apply that standard. He was impeached, but not convicted. He did his full 8 years.
So, if the "we" is the entire country, then I guess that was the standard.
If "we" is just Freepers, you already know that the standard wasn't followed.
Whatever. This is not a matter of state. It's a matter of a party after the Inauguration, and a party designed for young folks. Who really cares if Kid Rock performs there? It's irrelevant.
Not needed here, I'd bet.
My wife is a fan of his, I have heard one of his recordings several times, most of it I don't care for but a couple songs are quite good.
Bottom line: I would rather support a pretty-good conservative than a great liberal!!!! (NOT that he's pretty :) )
Some of us did. Personally, I saw the fact that he was having oral sex in the Oval Office as a bad thing since it wasn't the woman he was married to. However, I didn't see that as a legal problem (just a problem between him, Hilary, and God). The legal problem was that he perjured himself.
I read Bush daughter Barbara, who is working on her father's inaugural committee, is behind the youth concert. Like this article stated, he performed at a GOP convention party for Dennis Hastert-which the Bush daughters attended. And the Bush twins seem to be into that sort of cr**-read about their hanging out with Snoop Dogg, Ashton Kutcher episode and Barbara going to naked parties at Yale and hosting a 'Pimps and Hos' party during Sex Week at Yale. This is their style. Kid Rock is also dating a porn star.
As far as I'm concerned, the Bush twins are not relevant to the Bush Presidency. What they do or do not do is of no interest to me whatsoever.
They do have the capacity to cause some embarrassment, I suppose, but that's about it. Let 'em rock on, and ignore 'em.
And the difference between the Dems and Repubs on moral issues is what again?
Im glad he is going... not everyone is offended by lyrics. The republican party need to bring in the younger generation (im one of them). If people make a big deal out of Kid Rock performing thats sad and Im not a huge fan, kids will get turned off by something so dumb as this
Surely you would agree that there is a significant difference between merely saying it from time to time and recording it for the ages. Most of us have said things that we would never commit to paper.
Regardless, it's not so much the words as it is the concepts, the "pictures he paints" with his lyrics. From what I've read here, there's little of value there, mostly a lot of filth.
I truly look forward to the day when sin in all its forms is nothing but a distant memory. Repent before it's too late.
"Nelly wasn't available?"
Nelly? Sorry, but I'm an old guy...still listening to 70s rock. I have no idea.

Quite frankly, I am not familiar with Kid Rock's lyrics. I understand that they're crude, at least on some of the songs. Doesn't matter to me. I don't listen to them. But...and this is important: Young adults listen to Kid Rock. Our troops in Iraq seem to like Kid Rock. He apparently supported Bush strongly during the campaign.
It's the Bush twins' party: I suppose they can invite whomever they wish to perform there. I advise not attending if you don't like the kind of music that will be played there. Myself? I wasn't invited.
Let's move on to stuff that really matters and forget which popular performer is playing at some party.
Me, I'm just looking forward to that Glee Club performance. </sarcasm>
I had already done so before I started -- and obviously before I finished -- my post to you. ;O)
"Me, I'm just looking forward to that Glee Club performance"
Actually, the Naval Academy Glee Club is a pretty amazing vocal group. You ought to take a listen.
