Boggs’ big-game furor: Hall of Famer’s hunting prowess upsets activists
The Boston Herald ^ | January 6, 2005 | Dave Wedge

Posted on 01/06/2005 8:23:18 AM PST by ConservativeStatement

Newly elected Hall of Famer Wade Boggs made millions hitting baseballs but now spends tens of thousands killing scores of exotic animals - including some critics charge are ``threatened'' species - as a member of an elite safari club.``He's a pretty vile individual contrary to his deity status in baseball,'' said animal rights activist Bob MacKay. Other SCI members include retired Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge, former Seattle Seahawks owner Kenneth Behring and former President George H.W. Bush.

"Deity status"

ROFLMAOATFARAN.

Hey Wade was a good ballplayer, but he has away to go before being a baseball deity.

The only sadness I have in life is the fact that I am not famous enough to really irritate activists.

Gee, I would have thought that having his mistress appear nude in Penthouse, along with an article describing his rather odd sexual proclivities, would have raised more of a furor. These are strange times, indeed.

Actually these are badges of honor in today's popular culture. If he were married to the same woman and spanked his kids...that would be weird.

-`He's a pretty vile individual contrary to his deity status in baseball,'' said animal rights activist Bob MacKay.-

Bob, on the other hand, believes in being vile in both his personal and professional life.

One need not be famous to do so, just depends on the scale upon which one wants to irritate. Take a look at my profile for one example of irritating these fools on a local level.

Or, try this: Take your Weber, load it in your truck and grill hamburgers in front of a vegetarian restaurant. That really ticks them off. (check local permits though).

From the Article:

But Stephanie Boyles of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, said, ``It's pretty much become the rule that if you've got the money you can kill any animal you want in the world.''

Considering that PETA puts animals and people on the same level, why can't we have a "canned" PETA member hunt in Tanzania or some other boo-foo African country. Now that would sell some tickets.

I've never had an interest in trophy hunting but if it upsets the activists ... Go Wade!

This guy should remember that for every lion Boggs shoots he save a gazelle.

And for every gazelle he shoots he saves some exotic plant.

Hunting clubs and guns, the great American tradition!
Wish I could rile up the activists the same way celebrity's rile them up. Maybe the weenies would develop heart disease from the stress it must cause to be a animaniac.

"I've never had an interest in trophy hunting but if it upsets the activists ... Go Wade!"

I'm with you. Husband and I went on a SCI home tour as guests of a member a couple of years ago. One of the trophy rooms was tastefully done, but the rest were just over-the-top or downright creepy. We've got our share of taxidermy, too, but some of these members are obsessed...
you find yourself expecting to see a stuffed housecat, dog, or old Uncle Ned around the next corner. Still, anything that chaps PETA can't be all bad.
