AP: Boxer signs on.
Associated Press ^ | January 6, 2005 | Associated Press

Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., signed a challenge mounted by House Democrats to Ohio's 20 electoral votes, which put Bush over the top. By law, a challenge signed by members of the House and Senate requires both chambers to meet separately for up to two hours to consider it. Lawmakers are allowed to speak for no more than five minutes each.

They are out of control at DU. This is beautiful. We have a war in Iraq, and 100,000 tsunami deaths and they want to talk about an election Bush won by over 3 million votes.

How many lawmakers are in town? Also, when they vote is it just a simple majority of the number of lawmakers there to put down this nonsense?

Again I must ask the question. Is Boxer challenging the results in the Washington state election for governor.

Bush won Ohio fair and square, this is just an attempt to cast doubt on our future elections and nothing more.

Does someone know how this works. Does the full senate vote on this, or is it thrown to the House?

If they are so upset about Ohio they should come to PA where it was closer and the Homeless in Philly were employed for the day. Every dead registered voter and every registered voter who moved out in the last year was represented by the 1day employed homeless folks. The buses were really moving from poll to poll on Nov. 2.

Even Forrest Gump could speak that long. Will CSPAN be doing subtitles while she speaks? Will there be a translator on hand?

The last time I heard her I could have sworn she was speaking in tongues.

Did you sign up today just to tell us this? Been posted already many times.

But while we're at it, could you get me in over at du, would like to debate those fools on a number of issues.

Such as, how do they explain all the dimwit fraud that the dims perpetrated in Ohio. Why didn't the 10,000 lawyers that the dims had on call find any fraud in Ohio? Why didn't they contest Wisconsin, where hanoi john won by fewer than 13,000 votes and W. had led in all the polls?

dims are gonna have their hat handed to them today.

I know. My point is, is she also contesting the election of the governor for the state of Washington considering the closeness of the race and the obvious irregularities of the suddenly found not counted before ballots?

Basically federal statute reqires a 2 hour debate on the objection to accepting the Ohio slate of electors. Then they come back for a vote on acceptance or rejection. It is a bit unclear whether a filibuster is in play because the fed statute is in direct contradiction to Senate rules (ie filibuster) One assertion is that the Senate rules are constitutionally guaranteed and therefor would supersede the fed statute which limits debate to 2 hours. Will be interesting to see how it plays out

Also, how do the dims explain the county in Ohio where they were caught paying crack heads with crack to register voters? They got caught only because Mary Poppins, Donald Duck, John Wayne, Tokoyo Rose, and others were found to not be living in that county.

According to Fox News the Senate and House have to vote on the objections which makes this whole thing pointless. My hope is that Senator Frists will stand up and say that the will of a few liberals is standing in the way of the will of the American people. Therefore we must work around their roadblocks, end cloture, so that the American people receive the government they voted for.

I don't think so. Usually, you can't shut her up. Once she gets her gums flapping, they have to pull her off with the long cane. She never shuts up!
