I posted a thread before about some inside information that national review had that boxer MIGHT contest the election.. But now...
I was watching MSNBC and they said that Barbra Boxer will stand and contest the results and join Conyers.
Its all over DU if you want to check out there forums (if you can).
Sorry no link yet, just saw it on TV.
If and when this goes down, what exactly happends? Is it an automatic 2 hour debate and vote or do they have to vote on having the debate in the first place?
Please ZOT Boxerface while you're at it.
Rather, we'll wind up with a two-party system consisting of the Republicans and the Libertarian or Constitution party, and Article I, Section 8 will be the field of battle instead of the outright anti-American socialist tendancies of the Dems.
Thanks for the link.
Yes, I was responding to a post which suggested that Congress had no right to sit in judgement on the action of a "sovereign" state function (submitting EVs).
I had Hayes/Tilden in mind when I said,"for example, no state has the right to submit two slates", as in fact was shown by the Hayes/Tilden controversy, is correct.
States can submit two, they can submit twenty, but only one will count, and Congress (in the form of the special joint session to count EVs) is the body with the authority to decide.
Once again, that's why Bush v. Gore was wrongly accepted by the USSC, and wrongly decided to boot.
And she's called a "Tuxedo Cat"? Or is there a more formal breed name?
I'm not sure what breed she is... maybe Mom was a persian and Dad came from a good neighborhood? I adopted (rescued?) her from PetCo when she was about three years old. She was their store cat but she wasn't adjusting well to their new location so they were keeping her locked in a cage.
Black and white cats are nicknamed "Tuxedo" cats because they look like they're wearing formal tuxedos, and appear in different breeds.
She's my second tuxedo. My dearly departed Magic Bear was a beautiful kitty with magnificent whiskers... I wish I had a picture of him to post!
It just goes to show you the innate power of incumbency and what happens when the GOP abandons one of their candidates because of the harsh glare of the (liberal) mainstream media spotlight.
By all rights, Bruce Herschensohn should be a sitting U.S. Senator at this moment.
-good times, G.J.P.(Jr.)
BTTT
We have to get serious about elections out here.
As long as we put up weak candidates against the 'Rats, we will continue to lose.
I hope Condi Rice will come home to run against Feinstein in '06!
The registered Independents are the ones who turn elections in CA. Almost 20 percent of the registered voters are Independents and those folks will stay home rather than vote if we can't come up with better candidates and the 'Rats will continue to win elections...
"Hard to believe she's really that stoopid."
Believe me she IS that stupid!!
She must have slept with every professor to get through college!!
Herschensohn would have been a fantastic Senator, but he was virtually unknown in No. CA.
Oh? I have no problem.
It's purely for propaganda value. Democrats are encouraging the denegration of the election process in order to keep the loony left, well, loony. It's not unlike Hitler's speeches that catered to the baser emotions of his supporters.
I never realized that was a love song. :)
I don't know how well someone like Chris Cox or David Drier would play across the rest of the state, but the fact that they can't even get these type of candidates to throw their hats into the ring is disturbing.
If you can't get top tier-or even second tier-candidates to run for higher office, what hope do you have for winning future elections?
Well since Drier and Cox stabbed Tom McClintock in the back during the recall election; they are not on my short list of candidates...
Truth is, we don't have any viable true blue conservatives with a set of balls to run against Feinstein & Boxer...at least not at this point in time.
Condi does have a lot of name recognition, but I'm not sure how well she would fare in an actual political contest.
Too bad Pete Wilson is out of the game.
If anyone knew what it took for a Republican to win in CA, it was him.
