Oooooooh! Scary!
Nice try. We do ok in the snow, considering that we have real hills here. This ain't Ohio.
Now, see that pretty much is SOP here in the midwest. How come you other folks don't get it? :-)
Hear hear! And it's a good reason to wear fur.
With 6" so far and another 6-or-so on the way, that guy with his snowmobile will likely be surfing my neighborhood streets tonight. I suppose owning a snowmobile in East-Central Iowa makes about as much sense as owning a surf board. (Buying on the used market would seem to be the prudent way to go. ;O)
Not this woman!
I trust you got home safe, hope my husband fares well in the evening commute which is predicted to be pretty icy also. Here in NE Ohio we're getting freezing rain mixed with an occasional snow flake, yuck. I'd much rather have snow. Definitely not more rain though - it's been raining here for a week, looks to keep raining for days more and we're currently under a flood watch. Woohoo, what fun.
Yeah I'm not sure why people invest so much in snowmobiles around southern MN/Iowa - so rarely do we get enough to make it worthwhile. It would seem to make more sense to get an ATV you can use all year.
The money we save by not aiding the victims can then be spent on cholesteral and fat-laden foods, smokes, alcoholic beverages, SUVs and other unhealthy things, to ease our suffering whilst we wait for Gaia to strike the final blow on humanity.
In the PA Outback we have 6 seasons : thawing mud season, greening mud season, warm muddy season, dry mud season (August), increasing mud season, and frozen mud season (frequently hidden by snow, ice or a combination).
Vermont's the only state of the lower 48 where the right to carry a handgun has not been infringed. How bad can it be? ;O)
Bring it on! I love to see Seattle crippled. The King County bureaucrats can't do their regular mischief. "...let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
so much for global warming.....
"Nice try. We do ok in the snow, considering that we have real hills here. This ain't Ohio."
I don't live in Ohio, I live in Seattle. I've lived all over the Puget Sound region for all of my life, except for when I was in the Navy. People around here seem to think that having 4-wheel drive means that they can do 55 on black ice. When it gets below freezing with snow or ice on the roads, the sides of the roads are littered with 4-wheel drive vehicles.
When it snowed last year downtown, this town was almost completely still. In downtown Seattle you are either going uphill or you are going downhill, without much in between. If people don't know how to drive in those conditions, they shouldn't drive. It is amazing how people will try to drive up or down a snow-and-ice covered hill with no traction devices whatsoever.
Ever driven over Snoqualmie Pass in a snowstorm? I've seen people get scared because they were way out of their league and stop right in the middle of the road, assuming that everybody will just go around them.
Right you are. Here in the midwest, for the most part, people do tend to STAY AWAY in droves (which is mostly fine by me :-).
ROFLMAO! You struck the right note of screechy sarcasm, LOL.
All the egghead meteorologists and dunderheaded reporters seem to have just discovered winter weather. In the meantime, some crackpot Leftists and Islamists are muttering darkly about how the south Asia tsunami "couldn't" have been caused by an earthquake. Nope, it had to be a nuclear test conducted by -- pick your villian.
But the real authorities -- Art Bell, Whitley Strieber, Richard C. Hoagland and their new age crowd -- haven't been heard from yet. If they're "remote viewing" the situation, their results are not in yet.
Of course, here in Southern California, the TV weather folks told us it would rain all week. Right at the moment, the sun is shining and it's a gorgeous day here in L.A. Granted, more storms could be a'comin' -- but at least they're not blaming some contrivance like "El Nino" or "La Nina."
Even if you're thoroughly expert at driving in it, you're surrounded by people who aren't.
Ever been in a city and watch cars slide several hundred feet down a hill, out of control? I have.
There was a time when 10-16 feet would have been routine. Maybe there is some benefit to global warming. ;-)
