Rohnert Park -- Police have identified a woman who was apparently wearing a live boa constrictor as a fashion accessory when she was killed in a single-car crash early New Year's Day.
Rohnert Park police Sgt. Art Sweeney said Margaret Ann Walters, 29, of Cotati, died when her Saab slammed broadside into a grove of redwood trees in the center divide of the Rohnert Park Expressway near Rancho Verde Mobile Home Park.
Sweeney said an open container of alcohol was found in the vehicle and toxicology tests to determine if Walters was intoxicated are pending. He said Walters was returning home from a New Year's Eve party when the accident occurred at 3:10 a.m.
Rohnert Park public safety Sgt. Wulff Reinhold, who responded to the crash, got a surprise when he reached through a broken window of the car to check for a pulse on Walters' neck, Sweeney said.
Reinhold noticed Walters' clothing "rustled" and discovered a 3-feet-long boa constrictor on her person.
Sweeney said an autopsy ruled out the possibility that the snake strangled Walters.

"Sweeney said an open container of alcohol was found in the vehicle ..."
Was the snake drinking?
I wish I could get past my snake phobia to try that as I cringe at just the thought of touching one. I know it's irrational, but that's just me.
My only hope is that Sgt. Reinhold's reaction to his discovery of the boa constrictor has been caught on video.
"Mister speaker, How many more must die?!!!"
In MY yard that sucker would have been dead!!!
The legislation WON'T be to outlaw driving with snakes. It will be along the lines of,-- All snakes must be in an approved "child-snake safe type seat" All cars sold in California will be required to provide these devices within 2 years.
I sense a lawsuit against Saab for not anticipating this episode and providing a warning label against driving intoxicated while wearing a snake around your neck.
Another victim of reptile dysfunction.
I thought it was the sharpest bulb? ;-)
Did the rattler bite you, Ern?
If so, did you die?
Anyone remember the Jim Carey skit on SNL??
"Ride the Snake...."

< Your fear is irrational. >
Yes. Ummm...I used the term "phobia". Did you think I didn't know what that meant?
It's irrational... but it's real.
no, no.
The scale of this was series and hugh. Was it showering at the time?
Where was the moose? Trying to cross the road?
Was the woman or the snake eating cheese?
LOL! Amazingly, no.
