Democrats on the Judiciary Committee complained late Tuesday that the White House was refusing to turn over documents that illuminated Gonzales' role in crafting memos on prisoner torture. Sen. Patrick Leahy, the committee's ranking Democrat, accused Gonzales of "stonewalling" in providing access to key documents, the WASHINGTON POST is planning to report on Wednesday, sources tell DRUDGE.

"In fact, I and other Senators have requested a number of documents from you and other administration officials that have not been released," Leahy said in a letter.
The missing documents, according to the Leahy letter, include a copy of the final version of Gonzales' January 2002 memo to Bush on whether the Geneva Conventions' apply to al-Qaida and Taliban soldiers.
The White House said that it had substantially complied with the requests, and that all documents related to interrogation techniques and policies had been made public.

you hafta wonder whose side the democrats are on?
yada yada yada Leaky Leahy
hey Leahy - do you need to hear it again?
I was trying to take a look at www.house.gov , and its down. Anyone else get this issue? Or do I have the wrong site?
Yo Leahy, just call Dan @ cBS and get some memos of your own........ you really aren't interested anyway. All you want is the appearance of controversy so you can beat your chest while you torpedo Gonzales.
I'm pretty sure I know which side they are on, and it is not ours.
If Osama bin Laden had come across the Rio Grande without a visa and had bothered to vote, I feel quite sure he would have voter for Kerry.
Umm. This sounds vaguely familiar.
Haven't we gone through something similiar more than once. Dems whine. W.H. delays. Dems get a big media circus going. W.H. pulls off another 'rope a dope".
The Dems are idiots.
"Some I know have suggested that the filibusters of the last Congress are reason enough to offer a procedural change today, right here and right now," Frist said Tuesday in his statement. "But at this moment I do not chose that path. Our Democratic colleagues have new leadership, and in the spirit of bipartisanship, I want to extend my hand across the aisle."
Grab your ankles, Bill - - you deserve what's coming.
The problem is, I think that the rest of us who voted for Republicans deserve better.
On the topic of getting judges confirmed: "I say we take off and nuke 'em from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."
I don't have to wonder. I know. It has been obvious since about 1968.
If Osama wanted to do anything to Kerry, he would've planted a bomb at the debates, killing him along with Bush.
Kerry isn't pro-Democrat, he's pro-American destruction. The two are not mutually inclusive to Osama.
Leahy is a clone of Dean, the former Mayor of Vermont. Taken together with Kennedy, Kerry, Boxer, Feinstein, Pelosi, Rockefeller, Levin, Nelson (FL), Reed, et cetera, ad nauseum, they are perfectly cast for the Jackass Party. Or is it the Demo Rat Party? National Socialist Party? Baathists? The Enemy Within?
It's now happening with Gonzales. The Republicans should knock the Democrats back by claiming that they're now smearing a second Hispanic with the same cheap tactic. Put the Democrats on the defensive.

we know where the Dems are on this issue, but there are also some civil libertarian freepers who believe these captured foreign terrorist have US constitutional protections.
Leahy is a clone of Dean, the former Mayor of Vermont.. Uhhh... small as its population is, Vermont is a state. Like the other 49 states in the Union, it's elected executive is called a "Governor."
