Marine Comfort Quilts
Marine Comfort Quilts ^ | 1/4/05 | Ed Sanders - self

Here's the info:

Marine Comfort Quilt Group is a not for profit ministry whose objective is to provide a memorial quilt of comfort to the next of kin of our fallen military. Our quilts are made from thirty quilt squares, each containing an inspirational message from it's donor or another serviceman.

Our quilts are stitches of love from those who want so badly to bring comfort, but don't know how to help.

Our Marine Comfort Quilt Group has now decided to take on a greater project. With the War on Iraq, we have lost many Marines.

Our initial project was to make one quilt for each family of a fallen Marine, but we have since expanded this project to include all members of our Armed Forces that gave their life in this war.

We are praying that soon these quilts will no longer be needed, but until then, we will not stop stitching until each family has been provided a small gift of comfort.

Here's a link to their web site: http://www.marinecomfortquilts.us/

And a link to the calendar section where the local NH info is, scroll down to May 2nd: http://www.allroutes.to/calendar/

If you're into quilting, this looks like a worthy project.

I have a web site with a calendar of events for northern New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine on it.

Today I received info from a local quilting club to post in that section.

Once I saw what she was referring to, I had to share it with you.

You're welcome. When I saw this, I searched to see if it had been posted on Free Republic and was surprised to see it hadn't.

I wonder how something like this could have fallen beneath the FR radar?

It looks like the project has been going for at least two years.

I think I either read or heard about it but I can't remember when...
it's a very good cause and it needs to be exposed to everyone...again and again!
I'm glad we have learned from Viet Nam and we are showing our appreciation to the families of those who have paid the ultimate price for freedom!

Thanks again for posting it.

Semper Fi,
Kelly

My stepsister is quite the quilter.I'm gonna send this article to her & see if she's able to do one to help.
This is a great idea, and a very sweet thing to do for sacrifices made, and loved ones left behind.

Really, a chance to do something of lasting quality for folks who have lost a loved one.
