Back before the November election, many mainstream media pundits--trying desperately to get John Kerry elected--began to harp on President Bushs unwillingness to stop certain federal gun control laws from expiring as scheduled. But their propaganda efforts came to naught because this issue was a non-starter with the American people.
The fact is, in this day of post-9/11 increased security consciousness, most average Americans simply dont want more gun control. They want more guns on hand to defend themselves and their loved ones in the face of possible life-threatening danger. Soccer moms are now taking handgun proficiency courses down at the local firing range.
Liberals are always complaining about getting to the root of the problem--unless it deals with gun rights. Then they abandon all logical analysis and resort to hysteria, distortion and downright lies.
Today I want to set the record straight and dispel a few of the more common myths with some hard facts.
First, according to statistics provided by the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, there is an interesting correlation between accidental deaths caused by guns and by doctors.
Doctors: (A) There are 700,000 physicians in the U.S. (B) Accidental deaths caused by physicians total 120,000 per year. (C) Accidental death percentage per physician is 0.171.
Guns: (A) There are 80 million gun owners in the U.S. (B) There are 1,500 accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups. (C) The percentage of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.0000188.
Statistically, then, doctors are 9,000 times more dangerous to the public health than gun owners. Fact: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR. Following the logic of liberals, we should all be warned: "Guns don't kill people. Doctors do." . . . .

VERY TRUE!!! But the liberals do not see doctors as a threat to their corrupt governments, per the Second Amendment and its purpose, as they do gun-bearing citizens!! Therefore, it is important to supress gun ownership to remove the ability of the people to protect themselves against a corrupt and despotic government!!!
This is EXACTLY why liberals detest the Second Amendment so much...
Think about that....
As much as I hate gun-grabbers and their ilk, "logic" such as this does our side little if any good. It makes for a good joke, if anything.
Ping!
Has anyone ever received a doctor's advice in writing.
Make too much sense.
So does smoking. So what? False analogies.
A better question would be do doctors kill more people intentionally than do those using guns.
The Last Tsunami killed far more people that Al -Qaeda but that doens't mean that going after Al-Qaeda is a bad idea, nor that we should spend ten times as much money on the Tsunami victims. (Money is spent according to the cost not the value of the tasks; government is a bureaucracy.)
"Logic" is useful to demonstrate "bad reasoning." That is what this "joke" is all about. If guns should be banned because people are killed by them, then doctors should be too. Just a little "fun" to demonstrate the stupidity of the gun-grabbers "logic."
Or do you?
Here's a clue, the "120,000" number is from a widely discredited study. The actual number is much lower.

Special Article: How Many Medical Error Deaths Are There Really?
--as has been commented on another popular forum, doctors already have a waiting period in their offices--maybe they also need a magazine ban---most of them are outdated--
don't disagree with the thrust of your arguement, but you make it sound like doctors set out to kill people....
I want to see your information on all these "deaths" by doctor....
what you will see IMO...is that doctors do not "kill" people ......treatments don't work, patient has multiple medical conditions, patient is very elderly, patient is allergic to a specific medicine, unbeknowst to the doctor or treatment options are varied and the one chosen did not work.....
I am sick of hearing that doctors "kill" patients when in realtiy, its purely bad outcomes that no one can either predict or prevent no matter what....
Doctors try their best to pick and chose the right treatments, and most often discuss these with the patients and their families, and sometimes the decisions don't work out.....that is not "killing" the patient...
I am not saying that there are a number of times where a doctor can be absolutely negligent....but IMO these cases are in the minority....
does everybody realize that at the turn of the LAST century , the average age was something like 45 yrs old?
the health and longevity of Americans is a wonderful sucess story, based a lot on the health industry...
I haven't researched this issue, but did run across the following study in an e-mail:

I'm not trained to assess the accuracy of the information in the link, but it is an interesting article.
Perhaps you should "research" the issue a little more before believing ANYTHING Gary Null writes.
but did run across the following study in an e-mail:
Great, I just got an interesting e-mail from a rich guy in Nigeria. I'll forward it to you. Maybe you can make some money.
I'm not trained to assess the accuracy of the information in the link, but it is an interesting article.
What, precisely, is "interesting" about the article? All I see is unsubstantiated twaddle from "alternative medicine" advocates. It is a classic case of cherry-picking numbers from studies and multiplying them together to get big, albeit worthless, numbers.
--on a serious note, the success of the "health industry" is largely based on the miracles of modern chemistry--provided by those drug companies that the MSM and assorted other interests are constantly demonizing--
I knew that number couldn't be right as soon as I saw it. This is probably something similar to including 17 and 18 year old gang bangers in the number of "children" killed by guns each year.
Wrong. The comparison is exactly correct--ACCIDENTAL deaths caused by physicians, and ACCIDENTAL deaths caused by gun ownerhship. Apples and apples.
Let's ban hospitals...
