A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos): 1.3.05

President and Mrs. Bush, former Presidents Bush and Clinton visited the embassies of the nations hardest hit by the Asian quake and tsunami: Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India and Thailand. He asked both (interestingly, Carter didn't make the list) to lead a nationwide charitable fund-raising effort for victims of the Asian tsunamis, through private contributions, non-governmental and international organizations. The White House's Freedom Corps, which helps facilitate volunteer efforts around the country, will assist the two former presidents in soliciting private contributions.

The president hosted a reception for new members elected to Congress and their spouses in the East Room; the swearing-in is tomorrow.

Alert: today's thread is laced with photos of The Impeached One. Other than that, enjoy your visit to Sanity Island!

Here's my caption to the pic of the Pres. and Bill walking togehter; of course the Pres. is thinking this; "Mental note to self . . . make sure the Secret Service sprays Lysol wherever Bill has been."

I agree. Plus Clinton still probably believes the whole "Bush is dumb" thing and Clinton like the others, is frequently shocked when they see for themselves how the President's mind really works!

I wish we would have snow. It was 70 degrees here today and most were in short sleeves! I haven't seen snow in 4 years and that is no fun when it's supposed to be winter.

How do the ranch chores go when you get hit with a snow storm? How much more difficulty does it add to the daily routine?

I agree it is a shame that sometimes GWB words get mangled because it does make him look less intelligent than he is and of course the MSM play on this and the average man on the street who does not take that much interest in politics believes it.

Is it wrong to enjoy these photos? I wasn't able to watch the Press conference but it amuses me to witness Clinton in back of G.W., while the current President commands the stage. Our Prez can take the spotlight or leave it. Clinton can't.

Right on! You nailed it. Those were pretty much my thoughts, especially when W allowed Bubba to go back to the Oval Office with him. (I hope he never let him out of his sight while there.)

There's a thread about this very topic, and here are my thoughts.

First I thought, "Why the heck would the Pres. make his dear dad work with that scum Clinton?"

Then I thought, "Ahhh, the Pres. plays chess, not checkers."

Then I thought, "This keeps Clinton NOT involved in working for a post in the UN, NOT promoting Hillary, NOT criticizing the Pres. (or if he would he'd look really stupid and petty), and it WILL raise money for the poor people who have been devastated by this AND Bush 41 will be close by to keep Bill out of trouble."

Then I thought, "I hope both Bush Pres. have plenty of antibacterial handsanitizer and a big shovel nearby for when they have to associate with Bill."

Excellent points, EG.

And I kinda like Bubba taking orders from two Bush presidential figures.

***I know this isn't the one, but it's a long coat, outside, and I love it, so I'm posting it anyway. ;o)***

Just go right on posting pics like that, Ohio!

I have another theory about appointing Clintoon to raising $$$ . . . I think it will ultimately undermine any presidential aspirations Hillary has.

People are really used to seeing the Pres. and Laura together, loving marriage, etc., adn they LIKE to see a good marriage in the WH. Clinton is going to be more in the spotlight, but I bet we see very little of HIllary . . . she won't want to go to dirty, disease infested, unhappy, hot countries, and you know Bill won't give up his chance to be in the spotlight to help her, so, their sham of a marriage will be even more obvious. And I think the voters will notice and not like that.

Did you see Laura was at the embassies today? She looked positively heartbroken. I'ms ure she was thinking about all the children who have been killed.

Come out our way if you're looking for more snow . . .

Thanks :) It's going well. I've been there for over a week (more like two and a half weeks now) and no signs of getting fired yet. (Did I mention my last two jobs I got fired from after a week?) So I'm just happy that I've still got a job and it gives me something to do.

***Our Prez can take the spotlight or leave it. Clinton can't.***

On a thread this morning someone asked why the Pres. let Clintoon be on stage during the announcement . . . I said it was for the fun of NOT letting him speak!

It looks to me to read,

"We pray for the victims __

and we stand firmly
with the people of India (as?)
s__ (she?) o_____ (overcomes?).

Clinton tagged along? I didn't know that though I'm not surprised.

I just love how Bush pulled this one off.

Clinton is now working FOR Bush. Clinton/Dems forced to face reality he is a FORMER President while G.W. is freshly re-elected by the majority.

Now the Dems have to follow their "savior" and support Bush's efforts to raise even more funding for the victims, to Bush's credit since it was his idea.

I think this was perfect. It utilizes Clinton's strengths, satisfies his weakness for the spotlight, and keeps him out of trouble. I do feel for 41, though. lol

Did that this morning--pork roast, veggies, all the necessities. Plus . . .a few good books from the library.

Our warning is for ice and snow starting tomorrow thru Wed., too. It must be a big storm! The kids were supposed to go back to school Wed. but bet that doesn't happen. Mr.h will be glad . . . they'll want to go to the ranch and they'll help him scoop feed bunks. :-)

Well done I know that you were upset when you lost the other jobs quickly so pleased that this one so far is going well.

Thank you for posting these. Clinton looks awful, I think he needs to exercise or something, he's got that really unhealthy look to him.

I would love to have overheard the conversation on the walk to the oval office.
