Liberal Group Seeks Support for Challenge of Bush Electors

(CNSNews.com) - The Committee to ReDefeat the President, a federal political action committee also known as ReDefeatBush.com, is organizing several protest rallies this week, before Members of Congress gather in a joint session on Thursday to count the electoral votes from the November 2004 election.

ReDefeatBush promises to examine the "illegitimate election" of President Bush; and it says it will offer a "declaration of intent to reclaim our republic." Among other things, the group insists that Ohio's 20 electoral votes were won by John Kerry.

"We expect the electoral votes of four states to be challenged and for the House to have to decide this election," the ReDefeatBush website says.

In addition to rallies scheduled in Boston on Monday and in San Francisco on Tuesday, ReDefeatBush is urging protesters to gather in Washington on Thursday, just as Congress meets to formally count the electoral votes.

"We want an honest and transparent vote for president, but if we can't have that then we want to see Congress reject electoral votes sent from Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, Indiana and any other states in which massive fraud and vote suppression inflated George W. Bush's totals and diminished John Kerry's," the ReDefeatBush website says.

The group says the Rev. Jesse Jackson has been invited to Thursday's Capitol Hill rally and is expected to attend. Confirmed attendees include Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb, and Rep. Peter Deutsch (D-Fla.), whose term is just ending.

ReDefeatBush is urging like-minded people to show up for its various rallies and also to contribute money -- "to enable us to conduct a successful challenge to Bush's reinauguration."

The group also is planning what it bills as the "world's first counter-inaugural ball" on Jan. 20. That event will mark the "relaunch" of ReDefeatBush, which promises to unveil a "bold new name and aggressive new mission," the website says.

You'll hear it for the rest of the decade: "The Fraudulently Re-elected President." Don't say I didn't warn you.

The latest missive from losers who ought to get a life. Posted just for fun:

TONIGHT in Boston, Columbus, TOMORROW in San Francisco

Living in Boston for Two Nights

If Boston is too far then come to the "Pro-Democracy Count Every Vote" Rally on 1/3 in Columbus, Ohio.

Boston 1/3/05 1:33 AM.I don't have an entourage. It is just me and a whole lot of luggage. I have the big ReDefeatBush travelling sign, and a projector in a hardened case and a suitcase filled with Bush Cheated 04 buttons and bumper stickers and what remains of our merchandise brochures. I even have a few umbrellas. This morning I get to introduce my old friend Jock Gill (who as the other co-developer of the White House Web site back in 1994 was more or less my first business partner) to Fred Weaver and the gang at Tank and see where all that leads. Despite the exigencies of the present we will get at least a few hours to work on the organization and the Web site that will replace ReDefeatBush on or about 1/20/05.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Peter Deutsch arrives for a meeting in the morning with most of our PR team and will represent us at a meeting in Congressman Conyer's office in the afternoon. Like Cinderella, when the clock strikes noon tomorrow he ceases to be a Congressman and reverts to being an extremely saavy and adept political organizer and counsellor. We're lucky to have him.

We have reached out to Senators Boxer and to Senator Reid, and we will see if any of it bears fruit. And tomorrow our first quarter page ad in the Washington Post will run. If we can gain support in the Senate here is our analysis of how things could go if this is, indeed, the great unravelling we all hope it can be.

And to help prepare for Tuesday night in San Francisco, here is the op-ed we're trying to get into the papers there, even though this is clearly a low percentage play.

Visit our briefing page to see some of what will be used in the Constitutional Challenge and join us for our online discussion of Constitutional interpretation, legislative strategies and parliamentary tactics.

Here is a downloadable calendar of our January eventsand be sure to check out the Linda Byrket film "Video the Vote" which we have on BetaSP tape for the news media. On Thursday we need you with us in Washington. We are now expecting Rev. Bill Moss, Rev. Jesse Jackson, David Cobb, Granny D, and musical guests the Swing States Road Show, Yikes McGee, and Jack Chernos and his Department of Justice. There will be stuff happening from 10 to noon -- including, if I can trust my e-mail, a spontaneously organized Sons and Daughters of Liberty Fife and Drum Corps that will be all drums, no fifes -- we moved the start time to noon because the actual joint session of Congress begins at 1:00. Since it may be a cold day and since we are not sure how long our outdoor vigil will last, we want to do whatever we can to ensure that there will still be a crowd with us at the end of the afternoon to welcome and thank the brave Members of Congress who carry forward our challenge. If you want to tune in we will be live on RadioLeft.com.

Whether ReDefeatBush will be paid back for all our efforts on your behalf or flame out gloriously will start to be known on Monday when our first quarter page ad in hits the Washington Post Federal Page and we hopefully get a 20,000 piece postal solicitation out the door and into the mail. We are soliciting contributions to a new Robert Morris Fund, which can accept contributions beyond the $5,000 among RDB is limited to. Morris financed the first American revolution and we're asking you to finance the next one. you can see what we buy to help you deside how much you can contribute.

And if you are still not convinced to give us your financial support read this list of 30 things we have done for you since election day. If you want us keep doing more of what we're doing, please contribute to pay for the lawyers and stages and everything else. -- DAL

30 things since Election Day huh? That's quite a lot for folks with waaaaaay tooooooooo muuuuuuuch tiiiiiiiime on their hands. It's supposed to be really over. Here they go again!

>reject electoral votes sent from Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, Indiana and any other states ...

In other words, reject them all.

I'm in Florida.
What massive fraud occurred here under the nose of massive Moore?

And just suppose that Congress did reject those votes.
What do they think would happen then?

David Lytel - He actually hatched more little Lytel's.

I guess he forgot to teach Clinton how to use E-MAIL since they "LOST" so much of it.

I can't imagine why ANYONE would get involved with someone so clueless. It just shows how DESPERATE the Democrats have become.

Dr. David Lytel is managing partner of Democrats.com, a company that provides Internet campaign services to Democratic candidates, causes and committees. Its clients include the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and House and Senate candidates across the country. A former Democratic elected official, Lytel served in the White House Office of Science and Technology in President Clinton’s first term.

Fluent in French, he been the recipient of the French government's Bourse Chateaubriand award as well as a fellowship from the Council for European Studies. He has played the role of Alexis de Tocqueville in a program on democracy in America spon-sored by the California Council for the Humanities. Dr. Lytel was honored by Federal Computing magazine in 1995 as one of the 100 most influential people in the technology community. He is a Fellow of the Center for Global Communications (GLOCOM) in Tokyo and a member of the Centre d'Etude de Prospective Stratégique (CEPS) in Paris. Despite his lack of qualification in either category, he is listed in E-Mail Addresses of the Rich and Famous. His e-mail address is david@democrats.com.

"We expect the electoral votes of four states to be challenged and for the House to have to decide this election," the ReDefeatBush website says

Well, I think they need a Rep and a Senator to challenge (may be wrong on that point.)

But the point is, let the House decide...the outcome will be the same...Bush wins!

The procedure has been laid out for deciding the winner and if a Democrat is foolish enough to challenge a state that has already been recounted (talk about political baggage, LOL)I guess you'd have to say it's his/her right. It won't have the impact of the SCOTUS decision in 2000.

If it goes to the House, sobeit, Bush wins!

I'm curious as to how this group plans to gain any kind of legitimacy, when their own candidate admits that he lost fair and square?

"We expect the electoral votes of four states to be challenged and for the House to have to decide this election," the ReDefeatBush website says.

Well, in order for that to happen, a majority of members in the special joint session will have to agree, which seems unlikely with 287 Republicans and only 247 Democrats, eh?
