Let the fence-mending begin. According to a Broadcasting & Cable source in Washington, D.C., CBS News president Andrew Heyward, along with Washington bureau chief Janet Leissner, recently met with White House communications director Dan Bartlett, in part to repair chilly relations with the Bush administration.
CBS News popularity at the White Housenever high to begin withplunged further in the wake of Dan Rathers discredited 60 Minutes story on George Bushs National Guard service.
An incentive for making nice is the impending report from the two-member panel investigating CBS's use of now-infamous documents for the 60 Minutes piece.
Heyward was working overtime to convince Bartlett that neither CBS News nor Rather had a vendetta against the White House, our source says, and from here on out would do everything it could to be fair and balanced. CBS declined to comment.
There isn't enough rope in Washington D.C. to pull this dinosaur from the tarpit it gleefully ran into. Who do they think they're fooling?
Ooh ha ha ha ha ha ha! That last paragraph is a real side-splitter! Can't...stop...ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
What the heck could possibly be taking so long with that report?
They are either fake or not; they know where they got them.
What's the deal here?
So they are admitting they weren't before?
Of course not. Collaborating with the DNC/Kerry camp to put forth fraudulent documents isn't a vendetta. It's carelessness. Mapes spending years of her life on the non story isn't an obsession, only indicates she is a dedicated servant. Rather carrying animosity towards the Bush family since a 41 interview should be celebrated, despite his age he still remembers the incident.
Interesting they are ripping of Fox's slogan there at the end.
They will have a TV movie attacking Bush sometime this year
Yeh, what gives? Is PAul Volker involved somehow? lol

Well ACTION speaks louder than words, but Dan the man and some others should go to JAIL!
I honestly think - stop laughing - that they expect us to have forgotten about the whole thing by now. And I suspect that the reason we haven't heard anything about it is that a certain name - Mapes - figures a bit more prominently than is comfortable for someone trying to sell the rubes that they're "fair and balanced."
Yes, I know that's Fox's catchphrase. Dang it, I said stop laughing!
No, but I'm hoping Dick Thornburg doesn't make me eat my words of defense for him.
Am I missing something here? What can be so involved it's taken five months?
"So they are admitting they weren't before?"
Why yes, so they are! Thanks for pointing that out! I missed that in my gales of laughter about CBS not being out to get the guy in the WH!
I think it's been scheduled to be made public via the same news conference when O.J. Simpson reveals that he has finally tracked down the real murderer!
She knows where she got them; she knows when she got them; she knows who gave them to her; she knows what she did with them.
It seems to me that the whole thing could have been wrapped up within 24 hours at the most.
But, then, I don't have anything to coverup.
Oh, right. The one where Scott Peterson tells us all how he did it and where Jimmy Hoffa is buried? I had forgotten that.
Um, didn't they steal that line from someone else? How about "Fair, balanced, and honest"?
Now, now, "honest" would be really stretching the envelope.
CBS is still trying to save whoever it was in the Kerry Campaign that pointed Mapes and Rather to the forged docs.
There must be at least one big name that hasn't yet been named for them to stall so long...
Well, now that I have had my best laugh for the day, I think I will go to bed. LOL! ROFLMAO!!!!!
