Amazing that Bush has managed to hack off so many people and yet wins reelection and more votes than any President in history.

We hear from the left that Bush is a right wing nut.

We hear from the liberal Republicans that Bush is a right wing nut.

We hear from the extreme right that Bush is a liberal

We hear from kooks throughout the political spectrum that Bush is everything from the anti-Christ to the man who is going to cause the demise of American society.

If the victory Nov. 2nd was so insignificant, please explain to me why the Liberals turned ashen during election night coverage? Please explain why Katie wore black? Please explain why Moore took to his bed to eat for three days. Please explain why it is the Dems in this great "soul search". Please explain why it is the Dems with a new Senate minority leader because their former leader lost his election bid. Please explain why the DNC Chair is being kicked out with talk of "moving center (right)". Please explain why this insignificant victory has placed us with stronger majorities in the House and Senate. Please explain why this insignificant victory safely guided the president to re-election, upped his votes by over ten million, provided the first majority since his father's first term win, and managed for the first time in over half a century to have a sitting president steer his party to joint victory with gains in both House and Congress. Please explain how we gained electorally over 2000. Please explain how Bush & Rove and Co. were practically the only ones that maintained consistently what their margin of victory would be, and met and exceeded it? Could it be they actually knew what they were doing? Could it be their goal was not a popular landslide but rather a safe presidential win and a more substantial win in areas needed most? Like the Senate?

Know what Christine? Shove the advice. NO ONE in modern day politics has been a better party builder than THIS President. If you think you can do better, go back to New Jersey and prove it. Otherwise I must conclude you are blowing smoke and hoping we are foolish enough to take your advice.

This president is not a hard right winger. Nor is he a Liberal. In actuality he governs the middle line on most issues which tends to drive both party hard liners up the wall. Personally, I am of belief he is a conservative that looks at issues pragmatically and is willing to compromise to get something rather than nothing. Meaning, he'll spend money on education reform, but require standards be met to receive that funding. Spending=Liberal. Accountability=Conservative.

Agree or not with his decisions, he is neither Liberal nor extreme right winger. But, at least Reps and Dems can be content to know they have something in common. Anyone that isn't in agreement 100% is obviously a representative of the other side.

I'm not sure I trust WP spin to tell me what's in this book. Who's publishing it?

And there are loads of chimps running around claiming that the "moderate" RINOs are the GOP's friends. Ain't that great?

This woman doesn't have a clue. Christie obviously isn't confortable being in the same party as the peasantry. She ought to go back to her country club and sip some lemonade with her blue-blooded friends.

It seems like this book was written with a Bush loss rather than a victory. "Take back the party" is generally a statement made for the loosing party. A "I told you so" as a reason for the loss.

Now that Bush won and increased his majority, it seems there is nothing to "take back". I bet Mzzzzzzz. Whitman had some serious rewriting to do on November 3, 2004.

Where does she want to take the party back towards?
pre 9/11?
to minority status?
to appeasing the french?
to fear of speaking out agains political correctness?
to never winning on tax cuts?
to being pushed around by Bill Clinton?
to kowtowing to the UN while our enemies succeeded in conspiring against us?

Seems like a book written for the loosing party not the winning party.

Maybe President Bush needs his own Fort Marcie Park(Vince Foster). It worked for Clinton to scare his people.

Whitman went from a supposedly rising star in the GOP four years ago to a not very popular member of the Bush cabinet.
She really turned out to be a nothing. She is a rather strange politician, who doesn't seem to fit anywhere.

Perhaps she thinks stabbing Bush in the back will spice up her career?

Christine Todd Dingbat, the idiot bimbo who had no problem getting her picture taken while humiliating a black man who was pulled over by cops. What a screwball.

Well, if he didn't get any middle of the roaders in this last election, and he STILL got 52% of the vote, does that mean we don't NEED them? ;o)

The relevance of this book by Whitman (quick review: twaddle from the squish) can be easily measured. Compare its sales to those of Zell Miller's book. His will swamp hers. And that tells you objectively that the current problems are in the lap of the Democrat Party, not the Republicans.

"It's my party and I'll cry if I want to, cry if I want to, cry if I want to...... You would cry too if it happened to youuuuuuuuuuuu..."

(Apologies to Leslie Gore, or Less Gorie as we used to call her when I was a kid growing up near Philly in the 60s)

Todd Whitman. What an embarassment to herself, and to New Jersey, the state which celebrates it's butt luvin Governor.

It's all a matter of perspective. If you're a moderate, you're going to think everyone should be moderate. In my perspective, I think there is a greater problem with the Democrats being too off center. Okay, I've got to hand it to them that can put up a moderate front when they need to --but, come on, they gave Michael Moore a seat of honor at the DNC! Moore is like the prophet of the most radical socialist groups in America.
