SAN FRANCISCO — The city that bucked state law and sanctioned gay marriage is now taking aim at the constitutional right to bear arms by proposing a ban in San Francisco on private ownership of all handguns.

"When you get guns out of people's homes and off the streets, it means that that gun is not going to be used in a shooting that kills someone, whether a murder or an accidental shooting," said Chris Daly, supervisor of San Francisco.

In a time when you have terrorists trying to kill us, we should buy guns.

"Should"? I've got so many, I have to put the serial numbers on a spreadsheet.

BTW, just buying a weapon doesn't mean diddle-e-squat unless you use it on a regular basis. If you haven't already, join the NRA, and take some gun safety classes. And read the ten commandments of firearm safety.

Every time we complain about it online, we drive away a dozen good Americans...

My kids live there for some unknown reason. I visited them ONCE. That was it! After I saw two queers making out. Now we have the kids visit *us* in NC.

This all will end the week they decide to send out a blue helmeted police force for colletction. Newsome will call a news conference stating he had no idea people would defend their constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Just a shame a lot of good young kids will get "hurt".

PLEASE PROCEED WITH ALL HASTE TO SAN FRANCISCO, LEAVING VARIOUS OTHER AREAS WITH ALL DUE SPEED. NO ARMED CITIZENS IN SAN FRANCISCO MEANS FEEDING YOUR CRACK HABIT WILL BE MUCH LESS DANGEROUS.

Sadly, our cherished 2nd Amendment survives not because of the citizen's understanding of our founding fathers brilliance or the inalienable right to self defense.....it survives because politicians know that it has become the third rail of politics.....

Agreed, however, in this case I don't care how we got to our ends.

I think the first order of business would be to get a billboard company to agree to rent the space knowing what the message would be up front. If they agree, ask for a quote to know how much money we'd need. I'm guessing we're talking five figures for a month. With that info we can see if folks want to contibute and figure out how to handle the money to make sure it goes hwere it's supposed to.

Might want to think about the lawsuit angle too. The billboard is sure to piss someone off.

Well, they did. In the article, it mentions that the Washington DC ban had the effect of making it the murder capitol of the US as well as the political capitol.

Not in DC or NY City [second amendment law won't prevail].

One day. We can't give up.

Are you underestimating the radical nature of the average American? Do you think you're alone? You're not. The liberals tried to expunge this feisty nature from us over the course of 100 years. But it isn't going easily.

There was a massive rush to buy firearms after 9/11, and my conversations with many centrist, level-headed Americans confirms that at least a significant number of them believe in their right to keep and bear arms for the purpose of keeping the government's ultimate power to tyrannize the American people in check.

A lot of Americans joined the NRA over the past four years. Think about it! The NRA's message isn't just about hunting. They continually remind their members that the second amendment is about deterring government oppression, defending communities, and defending our national security.

Go for it, it has worked so well for D.C., Canada, Britain, and Australia. San Francisco is decaying into a filthy pit for drug addicts that can harrass people in the streets and piss/crap anywhere without fear of arrest for disorderly conduct.

Wasn't 13 months in Nam with the First Marine Devision enough?

statisticlly a gay mans penis is about 100 -150 times more likely to kill someone with aids then a bullet from a handgun in san fransisco. But hell lets not let facts or anything get in the way of a liberal feel good piece of legislation

Yep. They did. And I don't bother watching the other news channels to see how they are treating this story. Now if only those 5 elected officials would really get serious about the public safety and ban jewelry--as the Statistical Abstract of the US states unequivocally that 65,000 people in 1990 were injured while associating w/jewelry. Unfortunately, the Abstract fails to say whether diamond solitaires are more nefarious than say, artificial rubies or freshwater pearls.

If those 5 would only see the wisdom in thumping the Abstract and banning jewelry, imagine the money that would be saved on medical costs alone.

These laws are not written for criminals, of whom the politicians have no fear. They are written for the ( currently )law-abiding, of whose righteous wrath the politicians do fear.

"Why don't they surgically alter all of the males out there and do away with rape?"

Perhaps you mean "surgically alter all of the males out there and do away with buggery, anal intercourse and the spread of AIDS"

Atleast this will finally put an end to the question of 'is that a gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?'.
