Listening to the Mikado on New Year's Eve day can be dangerous. It's my favorite Gilbert & Sullivan piece, especially the brilliant, "I've got a Little List" ditty sung by the Lord High Executioner. As everyone in the media talks about the hi-lights, and low lifes, of 2004. So, who's the ONE person, or personality of 2004 you'd like to make dissappear, and why?

Yes, you're right...Kerry did himself in. Hillary will do the same, should she run for president, so I don't let their obnoxiousness bother me one twit. And you know what? I can't think of a single elected democrat more obnoxious than the left's talking heads. Paul Begala, Chris Matthews, Katrina van derHoofen. But even they have limited importance...except to themselves.

I watched Frank Rich on C-Span this morning, and I've never seen nor heard a more obnoxious human being. An out and out liar! When a viewer called him a reporter, he didn't correct him. When a viewer told him The New York Times continued to report the lie about that Tennessee National Guard unit not having it's vehicles re-armed, Rich claimed not to have seen that information in the Wall Street Journal.

Rich lambasted Rumsfeld for making mistakes, and not ten minutes later Rich was telling a viewer to excuse mistakes The New York Times has made because, he said, every organization "makes mistakes" and must not be held acccountable. I wanted to call in and nail Rich on all his intentional deceptions and his unintentional inconsistencies.

But most of all I wanted to call Rich on his hatred of George Bush, which is what motivates...consumes him. He would have denied it of course, even if I reminded him that he never criticized Clinton or his inept Secretaries of Defense.

So I nominate Frank Rich as the most obnoxious.

I'll have to go with Chris Matthews. He has no saving graces.
