Just a reminder this Holiday Season to remember the veterans in Walter Reed Medical Ctr. and National Naval Medical Ctr. The cards addressed to "any soldier or airman" really do get delivered to real people that can use the encouragement.
We have 6 children ranging in age from 4 to 12 and they colored about 20 patriotic pictures one afternoon and sent them in individual envelopes to Ward 57, Walter Reed Medical Ctr and Ntl Naval Med Ctr addressed to "any soldier" just to say thanks and to tell them that we are praying for them.
My 5 year old received a return note (which we did NOT expect) from a Colonel that was there awaiting surgery to put his knee back together from injuries sustained in Iraq. He said he was writing to tell my little girl thanks for remembering him...and to ask that she say a prayer for the surgeons who would be working on him. WOW...How humbling.
Are your kids under your feet saying they dont have anything to do?? It just takes a few minutes to find some patriotic pictures on the web for them to color and to write notes on, and send off to "any soldier"...it helps make it more real to them that there really are soldiers out there fighting for us, and can make a severely wounded soldiers day...
Do you have address?
Sorry about that....here are the addresses:
To Any Soldier or Airman
Ward 57
Walter Reed Army Medical Ctr
6900 Georgia Ave NW
Washington DC 20307-5001
and
To Any Sailor, Marine or Airman
Ward 5E
National Naval Medical Center
8901 Wisconsin Ave
Bethesda, MD 20889
From what I understand, they distribute the letters addressed that way to soldiers who havent been getting much correspondence.
Thanks for the address.
What about this link that says Walter Reed doesn't want any more until Feb. Just wonderin'. Maybe it would be good to send cards etc. to another hospital?

Thank you for the address. These guys deserve any and everything we can do for them.
I think that link is saying that they dont want more gifts sent until Feb...but that cards were still welcome, and greatly appreciated.
