I think this scene is just injecting humor into the controversy.
I hope the makers of the Dukes of Hazzard movie talk themselves right out of the profit margin with this stupidity. And now, I'm going to go run out my Confederate battle flag over Col. Robert Gould Shaw's body and whistle Dixie . . .
I got a Dukes first season DVD for Christmas. We were watching the first episode last night. In an early scene, the boys hook up with 3 other guys, one of them black, to pull a scam on the Sheriff. The black guy doesn't seem to offended by the flag, as he is leaning up against the car it is on.
And with that sop to the South-bashers and PC crowd, not even Jessica Simpson in a pair of Daisy Dukes and a bikini top could get me to see this movie. I hope it makes "Alexander" look like a blockbuster.

Oh, no. The PC Visigoths have ruined one of the stupidest TV shows ever. Noooooooooo!
Oh, yeah. The original show was so un-PC (note sarcasm): The only recurring black character was the Sheriff (Sheriff Little) of the neighboring county. He was the only competent representative of the law on the show, and everyone respected him. The boys always high-tailed it back to Hazard as soon as they realized they had wandered into Chickasaw, ol' Roscoe and Boss Hogg stayed away from him so as to avoid getting nailed for their various dastardly deeds, and even Uncle Jesse took different routes out of the county so as not to tangle with him.
Of course, now that I think of it, the libs will still hate the show, because Sheriff Little was, as a lawman, most likely conservative, and we all know libs don't consider conservative blacks to be legitimate.
I am violently opposed to Jessica Simpson playing Daisy Duke. The more I read about this movie the less I want to see it.

Notice anything odd? Not a single person in the entire movie was seen smoking a cigarette. Now back then, probably the majority of sailers and regular folks smoked.

Hello - Northern US Ships use to bring slaves to the US and then sell them to the South. So, I guess the US Flag is racist too (and all the flags of US states that were in the Union until 1863).

When the Dukes of Hazzard premiered, the networks were still volutarily complying with Jimmy Carter's "Family Hour" between 8 and 9. Apparently it was PC to put Daisy on in the skimpiest costume possible at that hour...the only stipulation was, there could be NO GUNS!
Being an inventive sort, the producers of Dukes of Hazzard cooked-up a story line where the boys were paroled from prison on two conditions...Uncle Jesse would promise to give up the moonshine biz, and they would not own any guns.
As a substitue though, the Dukes were allowed to strap sticks of dynamite to arrows, light them and fire them into the bad guys with a crossbow. More than one way to skin a peanut farmer I guess.
