A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos): 12.29.04

As the Asian quake and tsunami death toll topped 100,000 and is rising, President Bush said the United States' initial grant of $35 million in SE Asia was 'only the beginning of our aid.' He said the United States, India, Australia and Japan have formed an international coalition to coordinate worldwide relief and reconstruction efforts for the Asian region. Aid agencies today warned disease will also cause massive casualties among the survivors as the biggest relief effort in history began.

The president took issue with Jan Egeland, the United Nations' emergency relief coordinator who called the US "stingy" in regard to helping other nations. (Egeland later said his remarks were misinterpreted.) Bush noted that the United States provided $2.4 billion "in food, in cash, in humanitarian relief to cover the disasters for last year. ... That's 40 percent of all the relief aid given in the world last year."

Not to hijack my own edition of the Dose but here's some background on Clark, from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramsey_Clark . I include this because he is working against the international policies of our president, Congress, and the nation at large.

Begin quote:
Clark is well-known for having unconventional political views and for providing support and legal advice to numerous controversial figures in conflict with the US or western governments, including:

Branch Davidian leader David Koresh
alleged former Nazis Karl Linnas and Jack Riemer
antiwar activist Father Philip Berrigan
Native American alleged political prisoner Leonard Peltier
Liberian political figure Charles Taylor during his 1985 fight against extradition from the United States to Liberia
Lyndon LaRouche, who faced charges of conspiracy and mail fraud
Slobodan Milosevic in the International Criminal Court.
Elizaphan Ntakirutimana, a leader of the Rwandan genocide
PLO leaders in a lawsuit brought by the family of Leon Klinghoffer, the wheelchair bound elderly tourist who was shot and tossed overboard from the hijacked Achille Lauro cruise ship by Palestinian terrorists in 1986
The state of Iraq, serving as legal counsel for the Hussein regime.
Saddam Hussein, former leader of Iraq who was removed from power during a 2003 invasion led by the US
Clark is affiliated with VoteToImpeach, an organization advocating the impeachment of President George W. Bush. He has been an opponent of both Gulf Wars. It is also widely claimed that his association with Lyndon LaRouche in the early 1990s went beyond legal counsel to advocacy. He is the founder of the International Action Center, which has much overlapping membership with the Workers' World Party. Clark and the IAC helped found the anti-war group ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism).

In December 2004, Clark went to Iraq to join the legal team defending Saddam Hussein before the Iraqi Special Tribunal in a trial expected in 2005.

The caption says this was taken in Crawford. Does anyone else think it might be a subterranean room?

It was just the grapevine report saying that Clark was doing this. Had some sort of quote from Clark that said he's concerned about Saddam getting a fair trial becuase the legal system in Iraq is just a product of the occupation, not to be trusted...yada yada.

Komrade Clark.

LBJ.

In their case, the phrase should be changed from "Birds of a feather flock together," to, "Cockroaches clinging create chaos."

Thank you, GretchenM, for your faithful posting of the dose (you and the other faithful posters) when there are pictures. I am glad there aren't many - it means the President is hopefully getting some rest. But, his critics never rest, do they? Sometimes I think our wonderful President must be so weary from the critics that he reads the Psalms like David speaking of his many enemies that seemed to come at him from every side. Only the Shield of the Lord can prevent a person from dissolving from all the criticism.....since it is undeserved. That doesn't mean our President is perfect. It just means that MOST of the criticism is generated by those whose sole motivation in life is hatred and destruction of this man and the assumption of power in America no matter who is hurt in the process. Just imagine if these tons of critics would shut up - our enemies just MIGHT start to tremble. As it is now, every bomb blast and every Osama spiel hears echoes of applause coming from the President's enemies in this nation and around the world. Some of Osama's (if it is him) words could just as easily fall out of the mouth of Hillary Clinton or John Genghis Kerry .....)

That is his secure conference room in Crawford.

Might be subterranean. In fact, that would make sense wouldn't it? He's got to have some sort of bunker there. (I hope)

I noted that "The Washington Post" couldn't refrain from slamming the president for his supposed laxity of continuing to be on vacation during this SE Asian disaster.

If there's no presidential news, they'll make some up by way of a hit piece.

It just never occurred to me till I saw that photo that he might have, and of course he'd need, a secure underground bunker facility in Crawford. Wouldn't want to put that in the basement of his house though. ;-)

Yes, I am, my FRiend! I'm looking forward to moving into my new little House that's currently under construction. I've been living in a small single-wide mobile home for 24 years, that's been sort of like living in a Hallway! It's been too Small in here, LOL!

I Pray things are going well for you and your Loved ones, dear Patriciaruth. : )

He does look good! He sounded pretty peeved this AM during the conference about the criticism of the US, and I sure don't blame him. I wish he would have mentioned how much aid other countries gave the US after the hurricanes went thru Florida this summer, because I bet it was a big fat ZERO!

Thanks for the update. Continued prayers for your granddaughter's quick healing. Sounds like they did have their guardian angels wtih them!

My sister was in a very severe accident 15 years ago and it took her years to get over the fear of riding with anyone. My sister was in a coma for several days, then got meningitis, and her personality changed a lot after the accident. But we thank God that she's OK now!

AND, thank God your granddaughter will be OK too.
