A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos): 12.29.04

As the Asian quake and tsunami death toll topped 100,000 and is rising, President Bush said the United States' initial grant of $35 million in SE Asia was 'only the beginning of our aid.' He said the United States, India, Australia and Japan have formed an international coalition to coordinate worldwide relief and reconstruction efforts for the Asian region. Aid agencies today warned disease will also cause massive casualties among the survivors as the biggest relief effort in history began.

The president took issue with Jan Egeland, the United Nations' emergency relief coordinator who called the US "stingy" in regard to helping other nations. (Egeland later said his remarks were misinterpreted.) Bush noted that the United States provided $2.4 billion "in food, in cash, in humanitarian relief to cover the disasters for last year. ... That's 40 percent of all the relief aid given in the world last year."

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island!

Thanks a lot, snugs. Have only been flitting in and out here for the last week and missed all the birthday wishes. They are very much appreciated.

Thanks, snugs! I don't know what happened to the PC lately ... I do know I've got a video driver device conflict. Apparently it's chewing into the animation capacity. It helps to narrow down the problem to know it's visible on another PC.

You can rest assured, my dear, that you remain in our thoughts and prayers. I believe that God does not allow more than we can handle, but even with that belief I have found myself from time to time asking Him are You sure about this?

Appreciate your post.

At work the other day one of my coworkers was talking about Iraq and how we shouldn't be there.

My comment these days is: If you knew then what you know now, would you have taken out Hitler?

Shuts them up instantly.

***not putting pressure on you or hubby is important....***

Thanks for your encouragement. My goal is NOT to put pressure on hubby . . . to get us settled ASAP. He's working sooo hard now to get house stuff done, and work to PAY for the house, I want to show him I can take care of the 'inside' stuff.

RE: Clintoon in the WH--his DISrespectful actions make it especially refreshing (that's not a strong enought word!) to have our dear President in there, the Pres. who RESPECTS the office.

Any time I see the toon on TV it makes me want to puke. Hillary is no better!

Thanks for the dose!

I received a handwritten (well autopen...lol) letter from the President today thanking me for my work on the campaign. It was wonderful!

Happy New Year everyone!

I received the same form of letter as you did and even though it uses some fancy techware to get my name in there as handwritten-looking, and is photocopied, I am glad I now have a (handwritten) letter from President George W. Bush thanking me for my efforts to get him re-elected.
