As the Asian quake and tsunami death toll topped 100,000 and is rising, President Bush said the United States' initial grant of $35 million in SE Asia was 'only the beginning of our aid.' He said the United States, India, Australia and Japan have formed an international coalition to coordinate worldwide relief and reconstruction efforts for the Asian region. Aid agencies today warned disease will also cause massive casualties among the survivors as the biggest relief effort in history began.
The president took issue with Jan Egeland, the United Nations' emergency relief coordinator who called the US "stingy" in regard to helping other nations. (Egeland later said his remarks were misinterpreted.) Bush noted that the United States provided $2.4 billion "in food, in cash, in humanitarian relief to cover the disasters for last year. ... That's 40 percent of all the relief aid given in the world last year."
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island!
I will....his computer is broke so no more e-mails back and forth..
I'm blessed in that my only 'job' is my family right now. However, they're a lot more demanding than any 8 or 12 hr/day job and I do NOT get guaranteed breaks or lunch hours!
I'm trying to keep focused on the joy of moving into our very own home, built as we want, and how wonderful it will be to live where my husb. works and the kids have their animals!
I might have a big garage sale, or just invite my friends over to take what they want and take the rest to Goodwill and the woman's shelter. I'm trying to not get stressed aobut it, just do some each day. I know not everything will go according to plan but am trying to adjust to that and reconcile myself to that so it doesn't totally stress me out.
"Different" Christmas--LOL!
Thanks for the info if you get a re-vote do you think Rossi stands a chance?
Hello!
Think of it as good and positive stress at the end of the day it will be worth it.
***Clinton mouthed off that Bush was on vacation and doing ***
CLINTOON said that? I just thought it was some reporter. What an . . . you know. Goodness knows Clintoon was never doing 'nothing'--he was always doing something to lie, break his marriage vows, bring down the moral values of the country, or put the country in danger.
I'm sorry to hear that. We have a saying 'When it rains, it pours.' And it definitely seems that bad events sometimes come in bunches, doesn't it.
Hello just woken up and found that the dose was already up to over 125 posts long so trying to catch up. Dad temperature down a bit but as evening got later it rose again but I think overall he is a bit better just wants to get out of hospital.
Expensive ones as well.
RE; Your cookies going to the MP guardhouse--you should be honored--that's a great place for them!
We use the saying when it rain it pours as well.
Re: Clark == The man's a traitor .. out and out. As has been said by many sensible commentators, had we had the media in WWII that exists today, we would have lost that war .. we'd be speaking German or Japanese. The gall of these interlopers and hate-America-first-antagonists to spew their outrageous lies and actually aid and abet the enemy should be prosecuted. How can an American be allowed to do this? Have the laws against traitors and seditionists been removed? Are there any courageous and righteous CongressCritters left at all?
If the polls are to be believed, Rossi is the favorite by 60 to Chris's 40 percent right now.
Add to that the general and real disgust level even the democrats around here are expressing and I'd say, He stands a very good chance of cleaning her clock.
And as for vote fraud being able to carry a revote off for Chris, I think there is so much public scrutiny it would be much more difficult.
Have you seen Rossi speak? He's very clear headed, even, rational, squared-away. We need him.

The comment treason comes to mind but that does seem a charge rarely bought today in the so called developed world
Ouch on the plumbing bill snugs. Those services are always expensive to have performed. But who can do without flushing (for very long anyway)? And there's never a convenient time for those expenses or problems.
Hope your dad is doing better tomorrow.
Soros?
Positive stress, yes, that's what I'm trying to think. Just trying to laugh/smile at any setbacks, troubles, stresses. We'll get moved. We're so blessed that it's all working out and nothing is going to dampen that (please remind me that I said that if/when I complain about it during the next two months!)
Glad your dad is doing OK; sorry about your unexpected bills. Did you completely pay off one bill (like a big dr. bill)? If so, there's your problem.
For several years, in our family, whenever we paid off a dr bill, something else costing big $$ came up. When our daughter broke her arm I put off paying off the complete amount for months, just paying part each months, because I was afraid something else would come up. I hope your big bills are done for awhile!
