As the Asian quake and tsunami death toll topped 100,000 and is rising, President Bush said the United States' initial grant of $35 million in SE Asia was 'only the beginning of our aid.' He said the United States, India, Australia and Japan have formed an international coalition to coordinate worldwide relief and reconstruction efforts for the Asian region. Aid agencies today warned disease will also cause massive casualties among the survivors as the biggest relief effort in history began.
The president took issue with Jan Egeland, the United Nations' emergency relief coordinator who called the US "stingy" in regard to helping other nations. (Egeland later said his remarks were misinterpreted.) Bush noted that the United States provided $2.4 billion "in food, in cash, in humanitarian relief to cover the disasters for last year. ... That's 40 percent of all the relief aid given in the world last year."

Oh my! Sounds like you were a Christmas storm- victim. Well the best thing is that everybody is safe. Enjoy getting out into the world again, (it's certainly warmed up here today too, but we didn't have the snow)

Ah, you missed the snow then. Or rather, it missed you. Bitter temps a few days ago here too, yikes!

It's pleasantly warm here too......No fire tonight, but I'm going to turn in early.....
Take a hot bath....My feet are still cold from yesterday.....
Yes, everyone is safe....and we have been blessed many times....
Did you know that after a few days of being inside with your dog and cat that they start talking back to you......?
Honest!

The caption says this was taken in Crawford. Does anyone else think it might be a subterranean room? I thought the same thing when I saw that picture, Gretchen. There's something about the lighting in the room that just says 'no natural light.' I would get claustrophobic in that room.

Our preacher told us all to pray for a different Christmas.....It SURE was!LOL! Next year, maybe the congregation should suggest he find a different theme for his message. Heeee-heeee.

It makes the room look as if it has a very low ceiling I am used to living in a Victorian house which have high ceilings and when our company put up a new office block the ceilings being of a modern height seemed very low to me. So I understand exactly what you mean by getting claustrophobic in that room.

And yet, it was the Indonesian president who said that President Bush called him before anyone else did, and that the President offered whatever they needed.
This happened 2 days before Clinton mouthed off that Bush was on vacation and doing nothing.

I wonder if Ramsey was tied up in the Oil for Food somehow...why would he be so opposed to the first Gulf War?

I have exciting plans for NYE.
I'll be babysitting my daughter's spoiled Golden Retriever.
But Bubba is looking forward to it.
