Samuel L. Jackson is stirring up as much courtside trouble as his new character, "Coach Carter." The Oscar-nominee says racism contributed to Indiana Pacer Ron Artest's season-long NBA suspension, following the infamous player-fan brawl of Nov. 19.
"I knew immediately that he was going to be blamed for it," Jackson told us.
"It all becomes a very strange kind of race issue. As black players were going into the stands, it looked like it was black players fighting white fans. But, there were some black fans fighting, too and you also won't hear a lot about the white kids who ran out on the court, where they shouldn't have been," griped Jackson, while doing press rounds for his January film, in which he plays a controversial basketball coach.
"It changes when it's [black player] Terrell Owens. The more we advance, the more we go backwards."

Nominee for the 2004 Captain Obvious Award??
Neurosis.
Here we go again.
And the more we go backwards, the more we advance.
It all evens out in the end.
Hey, Sammy..STFU and go play the same character you do in every movie you're a part of.
Sam has to make up for the fact that he's now part of the system. He wants a little street cred to go with that house in the gated community.
Hey Sam, you FUGLY!
SLJ is a fan of the TBA (Thug Basketball Association).
Sam apparently thinks it's okay (street cred, like you say) to demonstrate his own brand of racism.
This is a pot looking for a kettle to call black.
Pulp Fiction is getting kinda old. Time for some new fiction, huh Sam?
That ain't right--white man keeping the ball players down!
"I knew immediately that he was going to be blamed for it," Jackson told us.
Should have confined himself to this sentence. Very strange, indeed. In fact, an emanation from the penumbra.
I've always liked Samuel L. Jackson, but this is a pretty lame way for him to try and drum up attention for his new movie.
Artest and TO are victims of their own egos, not racism. I love Samuel L. Jackson's work, but he's sounding like a real-life moron. What a shock...
Someone tell him to stop whining and help Bill Cosby help young blacks. Sports, entertainment and the Military are three places where blacks do very well. (There are many others) but for the sake of this story, his complaints will fall on deaf ears.
You make a few million dollars a year because you can dribble a ball. You actually get away with a lot of things the average person does not get away with. One thing you NEVER do is go into the stands after a fan.
So stop whining and remind Artest that he has to control his temper. By the way, what the heck has Sam Jackson ever done to make the world a better place. Must be nice to be a halfway decent looking black man with no skills or brains except for your ability to act or play.
""I knew immediately that he was going to be blamed for it,""
What was your first clue? Maybe the fact that they had it on tape...or was it the national television audience?
Samuel Jackson should consider his economic situation. Were he to have been born white. If he were white, with his acting talent, he'd be waiting tables and doing community theater.
