Good morning Darkwing. I just caught up to your story about finding the pups! Good for you and the Missus!

It made me think of the first dog my husband and I adopted. He was approximately one year old at the time. He was a very hyper dog and we lived in a town house, so I was NOT sure he was the dog for us. I mean when we first walked in he was literally bouncing off the walls! However, he and hubby bonded almost immediately! When my husband stopped in front of the cage, Jesse (dog) sat down in front of the cage door, and fixed his eyes on my husband. It was weird! We were told that he had been adopted a few times before, but was always returned cause of his hyper tendancies. He eventually grew out of it and turned into the best watch dog and member of the family.

Anyway, we were told that he was found in a box in the woods with his siblings. He was the only one alive at the time. SAD! Why do people do such things when there are better places to leave them?

I don't know what makes people do such horrable thing but I am glad that God chose us to rescue them. It worked out well.

For a dog that is the same as "tears of joy". My Cocker is the same way and I wouldn't give her up for anything.

I think we should require an IQ test, along with a background check, before issuing gun permits.

OH NO! Spotsy, I can't believe you said that! And, me just recently acquiring a Glock!

I, too, am a little nervous when I hear gunshots in this neighborhood. After all, houses here are a little close together even though we are in the suburbs. We are on 3 to 5 acre lots in my little space, but there are homes all around. There are, also, still vacant plats of land dispersed throughout our neighborhood.

I have to hope that whoever is doing the shooting is smart enough to take all precautions. I do believe it is the ignorant who are likely to be dangerous. If they are taught correctly about weapons, they will act responsibly. However, should I ever find out who it is, I will make sure to ask them to be extra careful. Maybe you could check with your neighbor just to ease your mind?

So, Mike, you've probably already told others this and I missed it, but whatcha gonna do when you get back? Any first priorities? Any plans to go back? I'm just excited on your behalf. Returning to the good ol' U.S. of A. after living in a totally foreign culture can be an awesome, overwhelming experience.

May the beer be cold, may the bed be warm and may the hot water last for a 30 minute shower.

Then I am going to be getting ready for my next job in Dayton Ohio.

No plans to go back right now, unless something really weird happens. I am transferring out of CENTCOM to Wright Patterson.

I have learned a lot here. Not as much from the Iraqis but from my coworkers here. Besides being bored out here made me find FR, so it wasnt a completely wasted experience. :)
