UN calls US response to tsunami disaster "stingy"
CNN Inside Politics | December 27, 2004 | CNN

Posted on 12/27/2004 2:04:39 PM PST by ejdrapes

I was watching CNN's Inside Politics today (no transcript up yet) and they had a panel on - someone from the Washington Post, LA Times (Ron Brownstein) and Time magazine (Karen Tumulty). They were discussing our response to the disaster and the host of the program mentioned that the UN called our response "stingy". Then the panel went on to talk about how we "fumbled" this and were basically AWOL for one day. This just really made my blood boil. What have other countries done? The Brits say over 10,000 of their citizens were on holiday in that area. It's a large tourist area for Europeans. Where's the criticism of the EU and its member nations? And do we really have to play politics at a time like this?

I think this guy has a lot of hostility stemming from his first name. And as far as giving a flying rip about what the UN thinks on this or any issue.......pffft!

Good morning. If the UN is up in arms, we must be doing something right.

I have to wonder how many of these shrill UN bottom feeders profitted from the oil-for-food ripoff? How many of these scaberous UN FLAKS fattened their Swiss bank accounts with the fraudulent UN BRIBERY SCHEMES? And now they say the U.S. taxpayer has to squeeze out "his fair share" to pay the vig for the Muslim countries devastated by Nature/Providence?

Remember, more money to the UN trough pays for the upkeep on Kofi Anan's Lake Geneva Chalet...

IOW, $15 million is not enough to properly skim under-table kick-backs from.

Contemptible. Despicabe. I hope the US Pub Senators will stand firm with cutting some funding to the UN. May be too much to hope for though, knowing their weak spines and all...

The countries involved in the Oil for Food scandle should take some of those profits and help these people. As we all know, the UN is our friend.
I feel terrible for the poor people who were affected by this disaster. My prayers are with them.

Well, then, why doesn't the UN just send some of their own money. Oh, that's right, I forgot, never mind...

Well stated. Criminal, bureaucratic, collectivist/socialist parasites attacking producers of something of value...of wealth.

The UN restrictions were sooooo harsh that the 911 terrorists just happened to fly right past the UN building, probably waving as they flew by.

"Ah, but good Christians would never swear, would they"

Paul tells us to "refrain from strong language..." He didn't say it was absolutely forbidden to use it even when appropriate.

When Christ accused the priests of being "whited sepuchres full of dead men's bones and full of corruption", that was considered one of the worst swear terms a man could utter to another, the equivalent of being told one was Full Of S----!
