Teresa Heinz Eyeing House Seat for Son

Teresa Heinz may have failed in her bid to become first lady, but she's not giving up on buying her way into political power.

"The word in Pennsylvania is that Kerry and other family members are pressing her son Chris Heinz to run for a House of Representatives seat," says the Washingtonian Magazine. "Chris Heinz is attractive and photogenic, and campaign funding won’t be a problem," the mag notes.

The tart tongued billionairess who calls opponents "scumbags" also believes that leading conservative Sen. Rick Santorum is beatable in 2006.

Mrs. Heinz is expected to pour some of her ketchup cash into the coffers of any challenger who stands a chance against Santorum.

Did you happen to catch an Entertainment Tonight program when they discussed the presidential campaign children and there were interviews and Chris Heinz said something like "Alex and Vanessa are my stepsisters so we couldn't date them but I wouldn't mind dating the Bush twins"?

Well groomed?!?! Look at #28. I wouldn't let that POS on my property. I'd call the police and file charges for vagrancy.<<

My mistake in saying the "well groomed" comment was a general statement; certainly not specific to ANY heinz-Kerry!

". . .if there was an atomic war and the last lady in the world was a bra burning feminist, a DUer or someone like a Terry Kerry and I was the only man, I'd give good thoughts of justl etting the human race croak . . ."

You would be doing a great kindness. Best not to breed anymore democrats than the earth really needs (and that would be zero IMO!)

how many votes did teraysa's mouth cost her husband?

Just enough votes! She really did hurt him, and I am glad. She didn't even have to speak sometimes to hurt him.

When Kerry himself brought up the subject of Cheney's daughter being a lesbian at the last debate, that to me was a very damaging thing for that sneaky, pompous, pretentious b*stard to do. He showed how improper and uncouth he could be.

Teraaaaaayza really blew it with the comment about Laura Bush not having a real job as an adult! Any schoolteacher, librarian, or MOTHER who heard of that comment must have been fuming at her apparent arrogance.

But, I feel thatTeraaaaaaayza did not want anywhere near the White House. I said all year to dozens of FReepers here that her little oral "gaffes" were, to me, subconscious actions of a woman who just wanted to go back to her beautiful home here in Fox Chapel. The white raisins are much easier to enjoy out of the prying public eye.

I think he has run with the Hollywood/New York acting crowd (which makes him infinitely qualified to represent the people of Pittsburgh

ROFL -- yeh, he'll blend right in like Charles Manson in the Trapp family in Austria.

I don't know anything of this Heinz family intrigue which you mention. I will look into it and let you know if I find out anything.

Gweneth Paltrow is built like a boy.

It's her seductive face and expression that kills me. It's very hard to describe, but very true. The girl is so pretty to me and is a great actress. I must be a fool.

You know her mother is Blythe Danner, who played the wife in "The Great Santini" among other things. To quote: "Blythe Danner brings a kind of classy elegance to her work that betrays her real-life background: the daughter of a Philadelphia bank executive. Gwyneth has that same feel.

"built like a boy"............ you may want to look a little closer.

;-)

He's not 40. Teresa married John Heinz in 1966. And in a bio I read that Chris' father (John Heinz) was killed in the helicopter crash (1991) on the day that Chris was accepted into college. Very sad. That would make him around 32 now.

By the way if I may say, I wish all of us here at FR would try to get to know some of these people who we consider political enemies. They are not all caricatures with horns. We are generally right on things, but these people are sometimes not the total *sses that we think they are.

Here's a little nugget I found while reading about Teresa.

****

At university in Geneva, she was a classmate of Kofi Annan at the city's School of Interpreters. Now fluent in five languages, she graduated and went to New York to become an interpreter at the United Nations, before marrying Heinz in 1966.

I think I remember reading it somewhere this past summer, that the oldest Heinz son, John--the one who is still involved with Heinz USA, 'distanced' himself from step-daddy's campaign. Be it for business (distancing the Heinz brand from politics) or personal (maybe the namesake leans more to his biological dad's idealogy than mom's hubby). Maybe I misread it...but I only recall seeing two Heinz sons (Chris and Andre) and the Kerry daughters at the photo ops...

PS...if you have a ping list on PA stuff...please add me.

PA Mom is right. There is an estrangement. The oldest son lives in relative seclusion with his family and (if I remember correctly) has an ironworks business. He declines to comment about the campaign, Kerry, his mother, or anything about it. I think Theresa made a comment about how one of her sons hates her.

I would like to know the story behind this as well...and I will bet John Kerry is central to the estrangement.

I think you are right about this. The oldest son is cool.

I have no ping list on PA stuff, other than "Rendell is a fat thug" ............ but I'll let you know anything about the Heinz family as soon as I learn anything.

I'm not far from her beautiful house out here in the "woods", I've been in it for long periods of time in the past, and Teresa is not an unknown quantity around here. So, there will be news soon.

*******

By the way, two anecdotes:

John Heinz (the Senator) was an enthusiastic sportsman who enjoyed trout fishing, skiing, and tennis. While in the House of Representatives, he won the "King of the Hill" competition as the best athlete in Congress. I don't know if they still have this award.

**

And in 1994 Teresa did say this one intelligent thing: "Today's most creative thinking is not happening in Washington. Today, political campaigns are the graveyard of real ideas and the birthplace of empty promises." That sure beats, "Laura Bush never had a real job ....... ."

"Rendell is a fat thug"

LOL...I swear, as a woman, I can look at a picture of Fast Eddie and just smell his cologne. Heavy, thick scent. But I digress...

So you are out near the 'farmlands' of Fox Chapel? Please, keep me updated...I just love this stuff!
