I think I remember reading it somewhere this past summer, that the oldest Heinz son, John--the one who is still involved with Heinz USA, 'distanced' himself from step-daddy's campaign. Be it for business (distancing the Heinz brand from politics) or personal (maybe the namesake leans more to his biological dad's idealogy than mom's hubby). Maybe I misread it...but I only recall seeing two Heinz sons (Chris and Andre) and the Kerry daughters at the photo ops...

PS...if you have a ping list on PA stuff...please add me.

PA Mom is right. There is an estrangement. The oldest son lives in relative seclusion with his family and (if I remember correctly) has an ironworks business. He declines to comment about the campaign, Kerry, his mother, or anything about it. I think Theresa made a comment about how one of her sons hates her.

I would like to know the story behind this as well...and I will bet John Kerry is central to the estrangement.

I think you are right about this. The oldest son is cool.

I have no ping list on PA stuff, other than "Rendell is a fat thug" ............ but I'll let you know anything about the Heinz family as soon as I learn anything.

I'm not far from her beautiful house out here in the "woods", I've been in it for long periods of time in the past, and Teresa is not an unknown quantity around here. So, there will be news soon.

*******

By the way, two anecdotes:

John Heinz (the Senator) was an enthusiastic sportsman who enjoyed trout fishing, skiing, and tennis. While in the House of Representatives, he won the "King of the Hill" competition as the best athlete in Congress. I don't know if they still have this award.

**

And in 1994 Teresa did say this one intelligent thing: "Today's most creative thinking is not happening in Washington. Today, political campaigns are the graveyard of real ideas and the birthplace of empty promises." That sure beats, "Laura Bush never had a real job ....... ."
