BAGHDAD, Iraq - The Ansar al-Sunnah Army has emerged from its roots as a little known militant group operating in northern Iraq to become the countrys deadliest terror network, capable of carrying out spectacular strikes like last weeks suicide bombing at a U.S. base and virtually eclipsing al-Qaidas cell in the war-torn nation. Unlike al-Qaida, Ansar al-Sunnah is believed to be made up mainly of Iraqis, and its apparent strategy of targeting only Americans and those viewed as collaborating with them Iraqi security forces and Kurds may have increased its support, in contrast to other groups that have hit more clearly Iraqi civilian targets.

Maybe it's high time to get the Kurds on the case in a massive way?
Ansar al-Sunnah
The name seems to define it as uniquely sunni.....I would take that to mean that anyone else can be their enemy.....in their immediate vicinity and future are shia and kurd majorities who will soon become the dominant factors of the Iraqi govt......clear intent is civil war, IMO
Of course I have no hard proof, and am not privy to any secret information, but logically speaking: 1) These nations have controlled media, which is dissing the US invasion, and aims in Iraq 24X7, and its population is 90% against us. 2) These nations tell us that they are "against the terrorists" just to keep the US money, and military help flowing. Officially they keep telling us not to call the terrorists Muslim terrorists, because it offends Islam. I have not seen that many terrorists terrorizing countries around the globe who are belong to other religions. Then they come back and say, well the US, and its unchallenged power IS A TERRORISTS STATE, and so is Israel. You see, if we stop kidding ourselves about our "friends" in the Middle East, we would be better of. Simply think of "ALL" Muslim nations as our enemies, until their population and their media behaves otherwise.
"With or without al-Qaida, it looks like Ansar al-Sunnah is here to stay."
How interesting that the author shows such admiration in his conclusion.
We'll find them, kill them and then they won't matter anymore.
Would be nice if our Special Ops slipped into Syria and did some quiet "hunting." Would also be nice if a few Israeli soldiers did the same thing. Iran would be good hunting ground as well.
