I saw that. I can't believe how low this front dropped. Mexico got snow too. I was in Austin several years ago for an inservice. I was homeschooling and had my son with me and that evening we toured the capital. There were snow flakes in the air with the dome in the background. It was one of the most prettiest things I have ever seen. The capital had not been remodeled and was kind of dark and we had the place almost to ourselves.

I brought my plants in. I was worried about the citrus trees but some grower on TV said a little freezing will make them sweeter. We'll see. I think the biggest problem was that it happened on a Friday night, on Christmas Eve and we aren't known for conservative driving in the best of weather.

We don't get many hard freezes here in San Jose either fortunately, but have, and the way folks drive in icy conditions or snow defies logic.
It's too bad some folks don't realize how dangerous it is and how tricky it can be driving in unfamiliar and stormy conditions. Tragically, accidents can and will happen.
yup, some fruit trees need real cold weather to produce well... my back yard has a few of 'em... love the fresh fruit. :-)

Here's a memory from this past February... guess it would be too much to hope it would snow twice in the same year. ;)

So pretty but I don't think the best part was seeing it this morning. There was a wonderland feeling watching the flurries falling last night.

Rob Peck, right, of Dallas, pulls his son Trevor, 9, down a partly iced over slope using his fathers childhood sled, No snow in 86 years, what is this guy doing with a sled?
I'm thinking he's had it all this time for sentimental reasons, but what did he do with it when he was a kid?

Some earlier and related stories:
What about this "global warming" we keep hearing liberals talk about?
The Kyoto Protocol: Fatally Flawed --
Unless Kyoto has some impact on sunsupot activities, it looks like Bush's lonely, unilateral decision may have been right. This bulletin indicates that sunspots may have been responsible for much of the warming that's allegedly occurred since 1900.Of course, maybe some industrialists are up there fooling around with the sun.
Paducah KY
At least six weather-related traffic deaths -- three in Ohio and one each in New Mexico, Arkansas and Oklahoma -- were reported as well as hundreds of fender-benders. Hundreds more went unreported as overwhelmed police told motorists involved in minor accidents to exchange information and fill out a report later.

A good reminder as to why survival kits with candles, energy bars, warm clothes, sleeping bags etc. are good to have in vehicles in the winter.
