I am not a Putin apologist or a Yanukovich supporter. I have been paying attention to this mess because this coming spring I plan on marrying a young Ukrainian woman (who, incidentally, is a Yanukovich supporter --yes, they do exist!)
That being said, it is important for us to reflect on the fact that democracy is still a very young concept in the former Soviet Union. They've had it for what, only 14 years?
It can be said that it took us well over 500 years from the Magna Carta to the Constitutional Convention to come up with a working system. A system that while not perfect has been about a close as one can get and has functioned well for over 200 years.
The Russians and Ukrainians will get there. It takes time (hopefully not 500 years).
Yep, and the only places where these things have been reported are in precints that are run by democrats. They all have democrat officials, democrat workers, therefore they are either incompetent or corrupt.

The 2 November elections in the United States mostly met the commitments agreed to by the 55 OSCE participating States in the Copenhagen Document of 1990 – see Annex I. They were conducted in an environment that reflects a long democratic tradition, including institutions governed by rule of law, free and professional media and civil society involved in all aspects of the election process.

As for the first round, the second round of the Ukrainian presidential election did not meet a considerable number of OSCE commitments and Council of Europe and other European standards for democratic elections. Despite a number of serious shortcomings being identified by the IEOM in its statement of 1 November, the authorities failed to take remedial action between the two rounds of voting to redress biased coverage on State media, misuse of State resources, and pressure on certain categories of voters to support the candidacy of Mr. Yanukovych. Overall, State executive authorities and the Central Election Commission (CEC) displayed a lack of will to conduct a genuine democratic election process.
