SCHOOL DRINK STINK (School officials Say: Buy your drinks from us or go thirsty)

School officials in south Brooklyn have issued an ultimatum to parched students: Buy your drinks from us or go thirsty.

The directive came down this month from the superintendent for Region 6, Gloria Buckery, who ordered district officials to ban students from bringing drinks to school.

Some went so far as to suggest the ban is a ploy to encourage kids to drink Snapple — the official drink of city schools since last year.

Under the $40 million deal, which gave Snapple exclusive rights to place vending machines in public schools for five years, schools are to get a 30 percent commission on drinks sold in their buildings.

I have fond memories of my elementary school cafeteria, mid-sixties. I can close my eyes, bring up the visual, and still almost smell the homemade yeast rolls that we had EVERY day.

The thing is it's true. As kids back in the early 60's we knew milk and this wasn't milk, we complained but hell we were just kids. Anyway a few years later it broke that this dairy was selling "near milk" to all the Catholic schools in the area and a few people got arrested. Without going into names let's just say this was one of the companies "legit" businesses along with vending machines.

Can't we solve any damn problem without getting the leeches involved?

Just fire the principal or burn the school to the ground.

More direct, yes. I figure, let them twist in their own medicine. (How's that for a mixed metaphor?)
