The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

WASHINGTON - A terrorist attack on a tanker loaded with liquefied natural gas could cause massive damage a third of a mile away and could send a vapor cloud billowing more than 1.5 miles, government scientists say.

With the the nation clamoring for more natural gas, policy-makers are trying to figure out how to safely import large quantities of liquefied natural gas or LNG.

Two Killed in Civil Air Patrol Plane Crash in Northeastern Louisiana (1/11/05)

MONROE, La. (AP) - A small Civil Air Patrol plane crashed during a training exercise in a swampy area of northeastern Louisiana, killing the pilot and a second man on board, authorities said Tuesday.

The men were among at least six people killed Monday night in separate small plane crashes in Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Florida and South Carolina, officials said.

The wreckage of the single-engine 182 Cessna from the Louisiana arm of the Civil Air Patrol was found near a state highway about 10 miles northeast of the airport in Monroe on Tuesday morning, said sheriff's Capt. Danny Acree. Rescuers had searched for the plane for 11 hours, he said......

Other crashes:

-In Florida, a single-engine Piper Cherokee crashed about 45 northwest of Orlando, killing the pilot, John Porter McGaughy, 60.

-In South Carolina, a Piper PA30 Twin Comanche crashed at Charleston International Airport, killing Archie T. Simpson, 63.

-In Texas, Gabriel Rosales, 69, died when the single-engine Cessna he was flying crashed near the airport in Coleman.

Search Under way in Potomac for Second Crash Victim (MediVac Helicopter Crash - Washington, D.C. @ 11:30 p.m. 1/10/05)

OXON HILL, Md. Rescuers were searching the Potomac River today for a second suspected victim in the crash of medical helicopter.

The Life Evac helicopter went down just south of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge around eleven o'clock last night. Authorities said it had dropped off a patient at a Washington hospital and was returning to its base in Stafford County, Virginia.

Nurse Jonathan Godfrey was plucked out of the water after clinging to the wreckage of the chopper. He's hospitalized with broken bones and bruises........

Guns Stolen in Holdup (Chesterfield County, VA - 1/11/05)

WWBT and Richmond Times-Dispatch RICHMOND, Va. (AP) _ Several armed robbers stole more than 100 guns from a Chesterfield County gun shop this morning in what police call a brazen "takeover" holdup.

Authorities say at least one employee was ordered to the floor at gunpoint, but no one was hurt. The robbery occurred about 8:20 a-m at Bob Moates Gun Shop. At least one armed suspect entered, but was apparently helped by three other men.

Chesterfield Police Captain Paige Foster says that the items include handguns and as many as four A-R-15s, which are similar to M-16s.

Police say the robbers smashed glass cases and took out the guns. Local police are working the case with the Virginia State Police and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
