This is what I would expect in either case. It may take another day or so for this whole thing to playout.
Michelle Malkin is a great American.
Thanks for the links.
.snippette .. A semi-official daily reported Tuesday Iraqi police captured an "important terrorist," believed to be Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, in a raid east of Baghdad. There was no official confirmation of the report. The daily al-Sabah said it received information a "very important terrorist figure" was captured in the city of Diali during a large-scale raid by U.S.-backed Iraqi police.

Heading out soon to stock up on dwindling supplies.
7-9 inches of snow headed our way.
(I do love the snow!)
Fox News and Washington Times - very encouraging (praying it's true). We need to get this evil murdering terrorist off the streets of Iraq.
Gallup: Avg. American owns 1.7 Guns
Press Image of Gun Owner Not Far Off, Except for All Those Women
By E&P Staff Published: January 04, 2005 10:00 AM ET
NEW YORK A Gallup Poll released this morning reveals that the average American owns 1.7 guns, with the average gun owner possessing 4.4 of them. The press is quick to promote stereotypes of the average gun owner as a white male, most likely Republican, living in a rural area or the South. But how well does reality match the image? The new Gallup Poll shows that the stereotype is not that far off, but with several twists.
For one thing, one out of three American women say they own a gun. That's not much below the overall mark of 40% for all American adults.
As for other elements of the stereotype: More than half (53%) of Republicans own guns, compared with 36% of political independents and 31% of Democrats. Whites are more likely than nonwhites to own (44% and 24%, respectively), according to Gallup.
Residents of the South are significantly more likely than those living in other regions to report owning a gun. More than half of those living in rural areas (56%) own a gun, compared with 40% of suburbanites and 29% of those living in urban areas.
From 1959 through 1993, an average of 47% of Americans reported having a gun in their homes. Since that time, household gun ownership has dropped to an average of 40%.
Gallup also asked those with guns in their households about the total number of guns they have. A majority of gun owners (62%) have more than one gun on their properties, including 29% who say they have five or more guns.
Thanks for the update.
There's actually another update at your same link:

This creep lied time and again, even blaming the laser targeting the plane on his 7 year old daughter!
"Semi-official daily".
Hmmm. This is getting veeerrry interesting.
Plus the fact that UPI and Fox are starting to chew on it might indicate something is up. But as I said before, IF this is true, they'll keep a lid on it as long as possible in order to corral up the other key leaders and protect Iraqi officials from revenge attacks/kidnappings.
This up on another thread, am checking sources now.

BREAKING: ZARQAWI CAPTURED!
WMCA - New York City ^ | 1.04.2005
Posted on 01/04/2005 9:37:34 AM PST by KMC1
ABU MUSAB AL ZARQAWI arrested! Matt Drudge had it first. He was also the first to state that our Defense Department was denying the report.
Sources at the Pentagon I have spoken with moments ago are NOT denying the report however. Instead they instructed all interested to look for a news conference to happen with a high-ranking official.
"It is unlikely that Defense would ever confirm a report before letting the top man be the one to break the news," said the source, who serves as a chief military advisor to the Defense Department.
"It is more important to expect a major press conference to be called by the President or the Secretary of Defense."
"They never do these things out of their proper order."
MORE DETAILS AS THEY CONTINUE TO DEVELOP...INCLUDING PENTAGON BRASS AT 2:20pm EST.
(Excerpt) Read more at kmclive.com ...
Thread pulled due to duplicate. However, blog is Kevin McKellog (sp), who is reasonably legit. Says wait for details at a later press conference. We'll have to wait and see.
I seem to remember a report not too long ago wherein MS-13 was working with AQ to the extent of targeting police and perhaps even running some of their drugs.
I offer this as a prod to anyone who has more in this direction.
The Abu Musab al-Zarqawi plot thickens. Kurdish official is now saying that he was not 'arrested'. Reports said 'captured' could be parsing words. Still waiting to see if there is a DoD press conference this afternoon est.
You might want to take a look at Jill's site at the piece "There he is the fighting brother Ubay Mus'ab Alzrqawy" posted on 1/3/2005.
It sounds like they're praising Zarqawi eulogy style here. They're recalling the heroic events of his life story and repeatedly refer to him as "the brave hero" and want his courageous life to be an example to future generations.
It looks like they're saying that Zarqawi ultimately fell in the attack on the airport at Kandahar City. Apparently this was Allah's will as they offer their last prayers of praise in this piece.
Interesting article in the Columbus, Ohio news today that is related to an El Salvador gang:

I did, and have to admit, I have trouble following the style of writing. I thought he had made pronouncements since, but don't have the data available.
I just wanted you to be aware of it.
Old Sarge,
Well now, the contents seem to be hiding --- only the directory is showing.
