I hope this message finds you and your loved ones enjoying the holidays. I have been thinking a lot about what our johnkerry.com community can do to mark the end of what has been an extraordinary year. We have formed bonds of friendship and commitment that I know will extend far into the future.

So, in addition to thanking you once again for all you have done, I'm writing to invite your participation in one final 2004 act of collective generosity. As a soldier, I remember how much it meant to hear from loved ones - especially at the holidays. So, I thought you and I could work together to make it easier for our soldiers serving in Iraq to phone home and hear a friendly voice.

We've found a program that does just that. Operation Phone Home is run by the USO, which has been an extraordinary friend to American soldiers for decades. The USO buys phone cards at cost and provides them to our soldiers free of charge. You can help the USO help our troops this holiday season right here:

http://www.uso.org/carddonations

In January, I will go to Iraq to see the situation firsthand and personally visit with our courageous troops who are serving America so well. Nothing would please me more than telling them that hundreds of thousands of us have expressed our thanks to them in this concrete and personal way.

Your gift can help a soldier phone home.

http://www.uso.org/carddonations

In the New Year, I will be writing you about our 2005 projects and priorities. In the meantime, I hope you will enjoy this special time of year. Thanks so much for your constant acts of friendship and your special consideration of this request.

Sincerely,

John Kerry

P.S. There are 140,400 U.S. military members serving in Iraq. Any calls they make home to those anxiously awaiting their safe return are at their own expense. A gift of $100 will provide 20 soldiers with a 100-minute phone card. A $1,000 donation would do the same for 200 soldiers. Please help. A friendly and familiar voice can mean so much to a soldier serving America so far away from home.

I do hope that someone on John F'in Kerry's staff has informed him that even now, at this late date, it is far from impossible for him to end up being fragged by his own troops. Of course that would be a terrible thing.

On the other hand, Kerry might be more at home visiting one of the many insurgent groups over there to convey the good wishes of SO many liberal thinking Americans, and perhaps return to America to talk up the "reasonable" peace plan of the various terrorist groups operating in Iraq.

After all, he's had practice.

Well, maybe Kerry is exhibiting a bit of remorse over his turning against his fellow Vietnam war veterans and aiding Hanoi. A phone card? He has a long way to go. Maybe an apology to the Vietnam Vets would be a good start.

a little edit for historical accuracy .. ;-)

As a soldier, I remember how much it meant to hear from loved ones - especially at the holidays Christmas when I was in Cambodia. :)

God bless our troops and familes and our leaders.

I wonder how much sKerry plans to donate!

Or is he going to brag to the troops about the phones cards they got from someone else who contributed.

It wasn't HIS idea anyway. The program was already in place and he's jumping on the band wagon for the glory.

I think he's going over to negotiate privately with Zarqawi.

John Effin Dumbass doesn't even know he was a sailor not a soldier.

I posted this because it really ticks me off that Kerry would donate $250,000 to help Christine Gregoire steal the election in my state, Washington.

That $250,000 could have purchased 50,000 phonecards for our soldiers overseas!

Obviously Kerry has his priorities and providing phonecards for the troops isn't one of them. Afterall, he could easily purchase a phonecard for every soldier serving in Iraq and it would cost him less than $1 million dollars.

No where is this message does John Fing Kerry say that he is going to give a red cent of his sizeable wealth (not to meantion his wife's) to help the troops call home.

It is yet another way for him to stay in the public eye.

Let's hope that he finds an IED over in Iraq - the irony would not be lost on the troops. :)

The secret message is that he hopes they don't boo him so much that the "Old Media" can't keep it a secret from his lefty sheeple here in the States!

On the other hand I do applaud the sentiment. I just think that he long ago went beyond the bounds that would allow me to accept him as any kind of friend to those in harms way! He should do one of two things...

1) Sign Standard Military Form 180.
-or-
2) STFU!

" I will go to Iraq to see the situation first hand and personally visit with our courageous troops who are serving America so well. "

Kerry is more courageous than I thought. Or maybe it's just arrogance.

Especially when you're spending Christmas in Cambodia, delivering Navy Seals and CIA Spooks to their super-secret missions that only I, John Kerry, remember.

In the last year I have given many dollars to support the troops in Iraq. If by John F Kerry gave the same percentage as related to income it would fund the telephone card project for a few years.

Senator Kerry! Senator Kerry! Excuse me! But it would cost you and your charming wife ONLY $702,000 (of your many BILLIONS) to give every US service man and woman in Iraq a 100 minute phone card! Could you please, in the name of charity, help fellow serviceman out? It would mean SO MUCH!

In January, I will go to Iraq to see the situation firsthand

Just what we need, Kerry in Iraq to yet again aid and abbet our enemy.

If you really want to get pissed, tune to CNN or one of the other socialist networks, who have collectively decided to Vietnamize the WOT by putting up names, hometowns, pictures, letters, and interviews with the families of the fallen.

Hint

They are not doing this because they are trying to buck up morale here at home or at the front.

Yeah, and its not just CNN.

All of the leftist media has decided that if it worked to lose us the war in Vietnam, it will work this time around.

NPR, CBS, ABC, NBC have all rather "spontaneously" decided to feature interviews with families of our fallen soldiers, and keep a running body count in a blatant attempt to undermine the war effort at home.

Make no mistake about it, the socialists are just warming up, and their next objective is to force a retreat from Iraq before the job is done.

They must be stopped.

This is more important than the past election, the very survival of the USA is at stake.

Do you think this has anything to do with the fact that Kerry officially entered the protest to the Ohio election vote count?

There was some weirdo on Hannity and Colmes tonight that is predicting a challenge to the election on January 6th. He said that the American people will be surprised at the strength of the left.
