Car maker wants to alienate itself from 95% of potential car buyers?...probably not the brightest marketing strategy...

Odd thing, though: they don't make anything with rear drive. Lots of "Subaru Socialists" out here. Not everyone who drives one is a leftie, but the over/under on getting hurt or seriously killed by a drunk in an F350 dually, or by hitting an elk, cow, or deer, is about 7 years. I won't even RIDE in one of the little tin deathtraps.

Homosexual car?

Spontaneously rear ends other cars. Like an audi.

You wanna confuse people?

Buy a Volvo or Saab and plaster "W '04" and NRA stickers on it.

Full Disclosure: With the pickup, people will assume you've just broken up and are trying to saddle yourself a cowboy...

Yeah, and what's with Lance Armstrong endorsing them?

Don't tell me he's a closet gay... (!!)

GMC Van - 229,000 - another 200,000 should be possible
Pontiac Firebird - 178,000 - will keep for life
Pontiac Bonneville - 129,000 - should be broken in soon
No engines never rebuilt - just change the oil every 3k
Love my GM's
1.2 million

There is no Christian morality in capitalisim. Whatever sells your product and provides for the bottom line is good.

Your taste in cars is excellent. I have owned many Toyota's and all have given me well over 150k. Just excellent vehicles.

"I just traded in a Subaru Forrester."

My aunt, who had owned 3 Camry's before, bought a Forrester. She said how much she loved her new vehicle. One day the other managers at her place of work called her to go to a window over looking the parking lot.

Her new Forrester was in flames. She doesn't smoke so it wasn't a case of a misplaced cigarette. Subaru could not explain it. She took her settlement and bought another Camry.

I constantly had oil leaks. The first 2 I had repaired by the local dealer. The 3rd and 4th a dealer in a much larger city because I had lost confidence in the local guys. I no longer think it was their fault.

I remember their ads featuring "Crocodile Dundee" and it never crossed my mind what he meant about exploring "The Outback". And how much he could load in the rear of it. And how it held on no matter how bumpy the road. Hopelessly naive! I never caught on!

Now wait a minute there, mate! Paul Hogan is one of the most decent men in show business, Hollywood or not; he has been married to Linda Kozlowski (his Crocodile Dundee co-star) for fourteen years, and has sworn never to have another actress play his love interest onscreen.

Subaru spelled backwards with an "n" in place of the "b" spells out the favorite planet of their chosen clientele.

Dumb & pointless facts to know and tell...

Eeew. I was considering the Outback wagon for all the reasons you mentioned. (It is AWD not 4WD) But not after this article.

Put on a W (Bush) sticker.

I have a huge BUSH CHENEY sticker on the back of it.

There are no cowboys within a couple of thousand miles of where I live, on the East Coast. But there are a lot of pretty blonde ladies d'un age certain driving monster F-350 V-8 diesel duallies to pull around their six- or eight-horse stock trailers. We don't do it to find husbands; most of us are realistic enough to have given up on finding anyone to marry us and have thrown ourselves into the world of horses as a substitute.

Warning: Always a bad idea to use the words "horses," "husbands" and "substitute" in the same sentence. Use of the word "dressage" in such instances is highly suggested.

It really has been a great car. I have put 70,000 miles on mine in the last three years and have not had a bit of trouble from it; it handles beautifully, with reflexes good enough to have saved my life on a couple of occasions; the engine is powerful and has very energetic acceleration; the gas mileage is excellent; the cargo capacity turns out to be greater than a Chevy Blazer or Ford Bronco. You cannot pull much with it. It has very high safety ratings. The ventilation system sucks. Lots of people who have Subarus drive them for a quarter of a million miles. And the competition--the Audi, Volvo, and Volkswagon wagons--cost in the low to mid thirties, about ten thousand dollars more. You have to decide whether it's worth ten thousand bucks to you to avoid having the neighbors suspect you're a secret liberal or lesbian.
