Roger Hegecock was talking about this on Rush the other day and it floored me. How in the hell are we supposed to fight the enemy OUTSIDE our borders when we have to deal with this stuff from an enemy WITHIN our borders???

Maybe I'm over reacting a bit here...but IMHO this guy should either spend the rest of his aduly life on the synchronized mowing team at Ft. Leavenworth or shot for desertion.

"Missing Movement" is a court martial offense. They need to make an example out of this guy.

....that I resign," Paredes said yesterday ...

Boy is delusional.
If memory serves, the only people who are allowed to resign are Commissioned officers, not enlisted or non-coms.

Paredes had planned to publicly throw his military I.D. into the ocean to underscore his stand against the war.

This guy planning to run for the senate in Mass.?

With 240 million people you are always going to have this. The media will zero in on the .000001 percent and blow it all up so that it appears like its a mass movement. The military will handle it and the guy will get a dishonorable. The American people don't respect, and are not concerned, with these people because they are fraudulent volunteers...not conscripts.

On Sunday, he had called newspapers and radio and TV stations to announce his anti-deployment intentions.

So instead of addressing his concerns through the proper channels, he runs to the media. Confinement on bread and water follwed by a trip to boot camp - Marine boot camp - should give this guy a good attitude adjustment.

Paredes had planned to publicly throw his military I.D. into the ocean to underscore his stand against the war. But yesterday, he changed his mind after learning that he could be charged with destruction of government property.

I'm not one who likes to use this word, but man, what a p*ssy. I don't think I'd want him next to our true men in uniform. He could get someone hurt!

Didn't this exact same thing happen a month or so ago or is this a rehash of the same story. Even the name seems familiar.

Bet this twerp voted for Lurch.

Series, why the hell did he enlist? So he could be deployed to Maui and bask in the sun with a dozen bikin-clad girls?

What a wimp this guy is! First he signs-up for voluntary service. Then he doesn't like what the service is. Who does he call? The media (the only ones who sympathize with losers). What's next? He'll move to Canada (thank God) after getting a dishonorable discharge. I don't know how these guys live with themselves, having no honor, and what do they tell their Grandchildren?

"I knew what was coming," Paredes said, "and now I just have to see it through."

Sounds like another war hero destined to be the democrat nominee for president.

This guy is no whimp. He seeks attention. He just got his 15 minutes of fame!

He called TV, radio, papers and had an elaborate plan worked out in his head about the "show" he will pull off. This guy wanted to be taken into custody. That way he would have had a bigger show. This guy wants to be someone.

That's my read of the situation.

I know it's a small thing, but I find it interesting that they refer to him as a weapons control petty officer. There is no such thing. The title is Fire Control PO. It just seems like they need to use the word weapons, to make it sound ominous.
