ACLU in Half-Baked Bush Smear
NewsMax.com ^ | 12/23/04 | Carl Limbacher

The American Civil Liberties Union is claiming President Bush issued an executive order authorizing the "torture" of terrorist suspects detained at Guantanamo Bay.

But evidence to back the allegation was missing a few key components - such as an actual copy of the so-called Bush directive, or any documentation that might indicate when it was issued.

The Los Angeles Times reports that evidence obtained by the criminal-friendly group included e-mails from FBI agents referring to the new Bush order on prisoner treatment, which permitted interrogation tactics that went beyond FBI practice.

The so-called White House-approved "torture" tactics include "sleep deprivation and stress positions," as well as "loud music, interrogators yelling at subjects and prisoners with hoods on their heads."

The Times notes, however:

"The records did not include a copy of the Bush order, or make clear exactly when it was signed. Pentagon officials would not comment on whether there was any new order."

The documents - "Urgent Report" memorandums covering the period between Dec. 5, 2003, and June 24, 2004 - do chronicle cases of abuses and possible cover-ups.

But they do not name Bush at any point.

Joseph Trunzo contributed to this report.

You can join the fight against the ACLU and their ilk by becoming involved with and supporting the following organizations:

Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) - http://www.alliancedefensefund.org

Thomas More Law Center (TMLC) - http://www.thomasmore.org

American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) - http://www.aclj.org

The Rutherford Institute - http://www.rutherford.org/

Stop the ACLU Coalition - http://www.stoptheaclu.org

Here are a few examples of how two of those organizations are fighting back:

ADF Contacts Over 3,600 School Districts Over Attempts To Censor Christmas

ADF: 700 lawyers ready to fight ACLU lawsuits

ADF: Pentagons' Warning About Boyscouts Is Absurd

Thomas More Law Center: Town of Palm Beach Pays $50,000 In Attorney Fees Apologizes To Women In Nativity Lawsuit

Additional information:

The ACLU must be destroyed: Joseph Farah supports Boy Scouts, urges Americans to fight back

I vaguely seem to recall that those methods of interrogation were publicly acknowleged when the facility was first opened.

I'm no lawyer (so don't laugh) but has anyone or any group ever considered a class action lawsuit vs. the ACLU?

What for? How about conspiracy to commit theft of our culture?

Other ideas? (Or is this whole idea a ways off the reservation?)

I agree with Bill O'Reilly that the "ACLU Is the Most Dangerous Organization in America".

As one of his listeners stated "The ACLU doesn't have A Clu.

Fight liberal BS with more liberal BS. If we could somehow convince them to work on removing religous references in city names, that would keep them busy for decades in California alone. Santa Fe, Corpus Christi and the San Juan islands being three I can think of off the top of my head from outside California. If that doesn't work, then how about reworking roads so they don't form crosses, stars, crescents, or any other shape that might offend.

And, Oh yeah, Merry Christmas.

The Left is laying the groundwork for an impeachment drive. They're looking for something that will click in their fanatic bid to get rid of the hated Bush.

How Rather-like. We know the story is true ... just no evidence at all.

I'm not sure either...I'm not a lawyer either. I'm not sure if you are off base, but it doesn't sound like a bad idea.

I'm going to title their effort with the keyword "BLEEDINGHEARTATTACK" - it's better than using ABUGHRAIBSCANDAL or PRISONABUSE since this does not rise to the level of scandal no matter how much the lefties want it to, and you just can't do enough to a head-lopping, suicide bombing, wifebeating terrorist to qualify as "abuse." It'll also make it easier to locate the threads with one consistant keyword.

Don't know if that is possible ... though I would love to see it happen

But cutting them from receiving taxpayer money to fund them is
