It's really a simple story.......a Child was Born.
True...on that great and fateful day....not many really understood the importance of that Birth.
True.... for the next 2,000 years plus....we have argued over and over the meaning of that Birth.
Men have attempted to change the meaning of that Birth to fit their own ideas of what life is and isn't...attempting to divide all of us who follow the One born on that day.
Men have attempted to take the most momentous single event in the history of the world....and turn it into a sideshow to the buying of more goods and things.
And, for the most part, they have failed.
Because, at the heart of our Beliefs....is a very simple story. A simple story...but a story that unites us and binds us.
It IS a simple story....a Child was Born.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
And now, in the midst of our Celebration of that wonderous Birth, we are under attack.
We are being told that we need to be more considerate...more feeling of those who do not share our Belief.
That we must NOT celebrate OVERTLY....that we must be sedate.
That scenes of that Birth must NOT be on Government property. (Property that is supported by the taxes of mostly followers of the Child born on that day.)
That Government MUST not be seen to celebrate in any way...shape..or form the Birth of that Child.
That we must have deleted from public display...every single mention of that Child...or even the God that Created us.
...and that we even must change our Greeting from "Merry Christmas".....to something more benign...like "Happy Kwanza" or some such.
I can't speak for anyone else...but (to paraphrase Mr. Heston)....I will stop saying "MERRY CHRISTMAS"....when they pry it from my cold,dead lips.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We are at War.
A War with those who will never relax in their quest to eradicate Christianity.
...and, sometimes, we are so busy trying to put down the other guy's version of Christianity..we fail to realize , to remember ,that at the very heart and soul of our Belief...is a very simple story. And because we forget that simple story...we don't fight back.
We don't sometimes understand that we hold the keys.
Because, no matter what we do.....no matter how many times we are told that the Birth means nothing...no matter how many times our Religion is denigrated.....no matter how many times we are told not to display any aspect of our Beliefs......this simple salient fact remains.
A Child was Born.
......and the world changed forever.
May you all....have a Merry Chirstmas!!!!

Merry Christmas, redrock. Thank you for remembering me. May the light of His birth illuminate the hearts and minds of all mankind. May the peace of Christ be with you.
Merry Christmas, redrock!
Also, Merry Christmas Freepers.
Below is another quote, by another man who was always able to find the words to describe what was in his heart. His words closely echo yours.

Meaning no disrespect to the religious convictions of others, I still can't help wondering how we can explain away what to me is the greatest miracle of all and which is recorded in history. No one denies there was such a man, that he lived, and that he was put to death by crucifixion. Well consider this and let your imagination translate the story into our own time -- possibly to your own hometown. |
He does this for three years. Then he is arrested, tried, and convicted. There is no court of appeal, so he is executed at age thirty-three along with two common thieves. Those in charge of his execution roll dice to see who gets his clothing -- the only possessions he has. His family cannot afford a burial place for him so he is interred in a borrowed tomb.

End of story? No, this uneducated, propertyless young man who left no written word has, for two thousand years, had a greater effect on the world than all the rulers, kings and emperors; all the conquerors, generals and admirals; all the scholars, scientists and philosophers who have ever lived -- all of them put together. How do we explain that ... unless he was really who he said he was. (Ronald Reagan, 1982) |
What some in the world just don't 'get'.
Which means we need to work a little harder this coming year.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
