Let us get this straight: NewsMax reports that Hillary Clinton has recently polled ahead of George Pataki and Bill Frist in a head-to-head-to-head poll if the 2008 Presidential Election were held today.
As my kids would say, duh.
In the same story, published December 21st, NewsMax says that neither John McCain nor Rudy Giulianis names were included in the poll.
In an even bigger stunner, a Fox News poll was said to have shown that if the election were held tomorrow, Hillary Clinton would handily defeat presidential brother, Jeb Bush, Governor of Florida, 46 to 35 per cent.
And that is despite the fact that Jeb Bush has already announced that he will not be seeking the presidency of the United States in 2008!
So, Hillary Clinton, at the moment, can beat two candidates that nearly no one has ever heard of; might beat two candidates that everyone has heard ofand who have legitimately viable and realistic shots at the Republican nomination; and she would soundlysoundlybeat an opponent who has already conceded defeat!
Let me repeat this another way: the polls show that Hillary Clinton would definitely trounce a candidate who is not running (but who would still get 35% of the votemore than Ross Perot, who threw an election and was actually running for the presidency, despite not being nominated by anyone, reallyand whose Vice Presidential running-mate said, and I quote: Who am I; Why am I here?); would definitely have a chance against two candidates who will get the Republican nomination only if Hell freezes over twice; and might not win (but who knows, since the pollsters didnt bother to ask) against two candidates who each has a legitimate chance of making a run for the White House in 2008.
In other words, heres how the poll was conducted:
Pollster: Of the following people, who do you recognize? Hillary Clinton? Jeb Bush? George Pataki? Bill Frist? Rudy Giuliani? Or John McCain?
Hillary Clinton: 46%
Jeb Bush: 35%
George Pataki: I think I had Greek food at his restaurant once.
Bill Frist: Youre messing with me, isnt it First? No, wait. Its Frost! Nippin at my nose!
Rudy Giuliani: Hey! Wasnt he the guy on the Fire Truck with George Bush sayin they was gonna kick some ass? I like him!
Pollster: Never mind.
Scuse me?
Pollster: Never mind. John McCain?
Oh, yeah. Hes cool. He wants to bring the Republicans and the Democrats together, right?
Pollster: (under his breath): Lets hold him in reserve . . .
Merry Christmas.
On the other hand, a Quinnipiac Poll released last week, according to NewsMax, showed that Giuliani would defeat the Hill in a head to head for the Senate in New York.
Go figure.
What this adds up to, I think, is this: Hill, call Bill and check with Al to see if those Buddhists are still down with greasin some palms for a Presidential run come 08.
Announce for the Senateget Giuliani to bite, back out at the last minute (maybe ask former New Jersey Governor James McGreevey to take your place) and then announce for the Democratic nomination as the candidacy of John Edwards begins to collapse.
Al Franken and John Kerry, new partners on Air America, can co-host, Takin It Back: American Democrat-acy and pump your ride all the way to the White House.
Or, seriously, folks: What do these polls mean?
Nothing.

Hillary! will be elected POTUS around the time I do.
Now, anny. You know you love Hillary. Let's see that smile. :)
We shared Webb Hubble, after all. (Gag!)
Beautiful. ROFL
Finally, an article that speaks sense about these ludricrous polls currently being conducted.
How does a Goldwater Girl become a loony liberal?
Another reason not to put much stock in this poll. Of course, the MSM nearly broke their neck to report it.
She finally came out of the closet, imo.
Merry Christmas, Chris! I have to go cook. BBL.
Merry Christmas to you. I keep forgetting the time zone difference. I ain't off work yet.
I don't share your confidence. I'd say she has a 50-50 chance of being elected, and a 30% chance of serving a full term.
Is OK seceding as well, if Hildabeast wins??
That percentage will increase dramatically if the Republican-controlled Congress, Senate, and White House don't do something about illegal immigration in the next two years. Just picture hearing this on the morning after the 2008 general election: President-Elect Hillary Rodham Clinton. Are you listening RINOs in Congress?
I agree with you, she has a 50-50 shot. Richardson will be her VP, and our bullpen is weak when it comes to candidates.
You see the dislike for Rudy on many of these Kerik threads - at least McCain is pro-life, we may well need him to defeat Hillary - if his health holds up and he can keep from coming unglued.
Of course, they hope to prejudice voters to the idea Hill is a given. We should just give up and allow it to be. We're not supposed to be able to discern that we haven't arrived at a candidate yet (neither have they), nor are we to factor in that primaries and the General are to serve to introduce the candidate to the public at large. During that time we make the case why this candidate is preferable to whomever the DNC nominates.
It is why this early polling is such nonsense. That process hasn't even begun to get underway.
Problem is, there are many "challenged" voters who believe the spin a poll can generate.
I read the headline and thought they were going to tell us what she weighed. My guess 175.
Delaware County will be! Since she has a snowballs change in Hell, I say we are still in the Union.
If a majority of voters can resist the propaganda endured in this past election by the MSM and their faulty polling, I'm not terribly concerned at this four year early push poll.
If you really think Hillary! can win I will add you to my list of Chicken Littles.
"It is why this early polling is such nonsense. That process hasn't even begun to get underway."
This is the understatement of the year. But you couldn't tell the mainstream press this.
