Rossi, the Republican, has taken two out of three. That alone dictates a winner in most sports games.

the 2004 election is headed to a five of seven series. Popcorn, peanuts...

Does this include the newly mined ballots from King Co. that they were ordered not to count?

Something tells me that there will be a slight move toward the GoP in the near future. This ticks people off.

This is what would have happened in Bush v. Gore if they had been allowed to keep counting.

Frankly, I find your tagline offensive.

That's nice, but you do not have a Constitutional right NOT to be offended. There is no question that the policies of the Democrat party have more in common with Satan; especially abortion. Guess that explains why the South has turned from solid Democrat to solid Republican in the short space of 40 years.

Sorry to hear this if it's true, WA FReepers.

Alot of people keep suggesting Rossi run against Cantwell. Please keep the faith that Rossi belongs in the Governor's office. That's where he can do most good.

The state needs a Republican governor to begin a long arduous process of reestablishing credibility with voters.

Cantwell is indeed weak and can be defeated easily if Republicans nominate a decent candidate while at the sametime having a popular and effective governor in Dino Rossi.

With Rossi as governor there is hope of breaking the awful Seattle socialist machine and that includes voting out McDermott. Once King County people see that a Republican governor can be popular and effective, there will follow a wave of new thinking and acceptance of more Republican values.

We really need Dino as governor.

As usual, the AP is not to be trusted ... they're premature in reporting this, as King County election officials are giving themselves till mid-afternoon to report officially. (Notice when Rossi was ahead it was a "tie" but when Gregoire is listed as 8 votes ahead, it's a "win.")

Here's what I understand about this to date from reading articles on FR; others: please correct me if I'm missing something here):

Today our State Supreme Court hears arguments on whether or not King County can count 735 absentee ballots. That same court ruled earlier that a recount was a retabulation of previously-counted ballots and did not include counting new ballots.

A fair number of the newly-found ballots have not had a verified chain of custody, which means anyone could have gotten to them to change them before they were "found."

Also, our Secretary of State is asking the Washington State Supreme court today to clarify its definition of a recounted ballot, arguing that because counties other than King got to include new ballots previously not counted and King County didn't, to exclude the 735 King County ballots doesn't give equal treatment to the KingCo voters.

During the 1st recount, there were rejected ballots from the machines that were then hand counted. The Republicans had tried to stop the democrats in court from handcounting these rejected ballots during the machine recount but were unsuccessful.

Without the inclusion of additional ballots, there should have been no change in King County's vote tally because the machines are 100% accurate with ballots that are machine readable and because those ballots that the machines rejected were then handcounted.

In King County the process was:

1. Election tally then
2. Machine tally plus handcount of machine reject tally then
3. Handcount tally.

So in King County's final tally either there were:

1. additional ballots included or
2. votes that were accepted and counted by machine in the 1st recount that were changed during the 2nd recount or
3. votes that were disqualified from the both the machine and handcount of the 1st recount.

In each case above there is likely a case for throwing out the entire election for Governor and starting anew.

Good points. Bite the bullet and kick their butts the next time around.

It's the way I feel about a football game; it should never come down to a single play that wins or loses a game.

But people can run an initiative to change the current recall law followed by an immediate recall.

For otherwise you are saying that the will of the people is secondary to the determinations of its courts.

The fact is a majority of voters now want Rossi as their governor in Washington State.

There was never any doubt that the Democrats would win Washington state. It was just a matter of counting until they won.

Too bad Washington can't be split into two states. The western third could be one state and the remaining two-thirds another. Of course, we all know what would ultimately happen if that occurred. The libs would start moving out of the western state into the eastern state to escape the high taxes, crime, etc., and the eastern state would then get ruined (just as Massachusetts commies are ruining New Hampshire).

What opened your eyes? Do you agree that the Republican party must remain the pro-life party, not only because it is the right thing to do but because it is the main issue that gets Democrats to change to Republican?

I'm a little confused... under what circumstances would it be ok for #3 to change from #2? Lots of counties showed some sort of additional votes.
