The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic held a press conference this afternoon at the National Press Club to talk about the issues surrounding President Bush's Inaugural Parade in Washington, D.C. on January 20, 2005 and the controversy over demonstration permits for it.
C-SPAN and Fox News were there, as was a reporter for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The Associated Press, which covered the morning press conference by yet another anti-Bush group planning to protest his inauguration, was a no-show at our press conference. So far, the AP has run two stories today about the anti-Bush group. Here and here. This follows the AP's story about Friday's press conference by ANSWER and their plans for the Inaugural Parade.
Thank goodness for C-SPAN for their fair and balanced coverage today. Before they show our press conference, C-SPAN will show the anti-Bush group's press conference at 9:15 EST. Ours is scheduled to run right after that at 10:12 EST. It should run for an hour.
Speaking at the D.C. Chapter's press conference were:
Kristinn Taylor, Co-Leader, D.C. Chapter of Free Republic
Kevin Martin, member, D.C. Chapter of Free Republic
Capt. Larry Bailey, USN (Ret.), Vietnam Vets for Truth
Nofel Al-jazairi, leader in the Iraqi-American community
James Parmelee, Chairman, NorthernVirginiaGOP.com
Tom Fitton, President, Judicial Watch, Inc.

We broke some news at the press conference. The Park Service will be issuing permits for demonstrations along the parade route starting this Friday. The D.C. Chapter will be granted a permit for the Navy Memorial which is located on the north side of Pennsylvania Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets, NW.
ANSWER will be given Freedom Plaza and Pershing Park.
The AP could have broken this story to the public, but they chose to cover the leftist's news conference and ignore the conservative's.

Absolutely no surprise on the actions, or lack thereof, of the AP.

"ANSWER" and "Freedom Plaza" go together like oil and water, or FreeRepublic and DU.
