Most people I know here in So Cal call it all coke.
and...
Nobody who lives here actually calls it "The OC".

My mom says "warsh" instead of "wash" growing up here in Kansas... I grew up in Texas, and heard most people say "warsh", I think. I'm not sure where that comes from. I always said "wash", but then again, I try to speak sort of like Rush Limbaugh, with clear enunciation and no accent. My wife, a California native, says "warsh" too.

If you still get it from a local soda fountain, you have the right to call it a soda. :)

It is pronounced "fort", not for-tay which is a musical term. "For-tay" is also proper for the strong part of a sword, as opposed to the foible ("Foy-bull"). I would consider it proper pronunciation for noting the strengths and weaknesses of people, as the terms derive from swordplay.

It's interesting. I hear such weird expressions all the time when I watch this BBC show on PBS (about some woman vicar).

Moon pies nowadays are usually concotions of graham cookie with a marshmallow center, dipped in chocolate or banana or maybe vanilla icing. A lot like eating mallow bars.
I think once upon a time they were folded fruit pies, but I am not sure.
My mama sure liked'em, but I don't. I'm not that fond of marshmallow to start with, unless it's in hot chocolate or part of a fudge recipie....

Exactly. I use pop as the generic term, but when in a restaurant, I order by name.

The things you carry in your hand are baskets.
The carts you push are well, carts.

I put my dishes in a "cupboard" however, when I go to Lowe's or Home Depot I am looking at kitchen "cabinets." :)
