We are "lucky" this was not a concrete bunker or the effect of the IED was 10x greater..
the iraqi troops? are you kidding me?
A bomb can blow a hole in the roof.
Nice to see that you are back.
Let's nuke Mecca first so as to show them what little power Allah really has.

A cloud of smoke covers a dining area after a rocket and mortar attack on forward operating base Marez near Mosul, Iraq, today.
How odd that the hole in the roof is long and relatively narrow.
(speaking with no knowledge of how bombs explode or cause damage)
Praying for your friend's welfare, Uncle Jaque.
Thankfully we have the real adult leadership of GWB and Rumsfeld at the helm - The fact is we are not at war with most of the Iraqi's....we are at war with the terrorist among them! -(there is a huge difference) -
We are fighting the WOT and it is not easy!! - That is why every administration since Jimmy Carter chose to ignore this unavoidable war!! (and simply pass it on) -
The fact is we have fought the most successful unconventional war in history!! - We are systematically and deliberately destroying Al Qeade and other terrorists organizations daily and nightly!
However, in war bad things happen!! - War is not some Rosy miniseries on TV where the good guys come out on the better end each and every time! -
GWB lead on this issue from the beginning!! - He was straight forward when he said this would be a different kind of war, it would be long and it would be difficult!
Does the fact that terrorists hide themselves among the citizens of Iraq make this a hundred fold more difficult? Of course it does! - Does it make it frustrating - Damn certain it does!! -
But we are still winning and fighting this war in the only systematic way which can and will assure victory down the road.
When bad days happen and when good men and women are lost.....it is time to cowboy up....not whine and b*tch.
Yes... I apologize for my oversight... allow me to retort!!
Thanx for posting the picture....
Wide open mess tent, tables all lined up in nice military order, everybody sitting down for lunch at the regular, predetermined, publicly known time, all together...
Just freaking great...
No frag partitions, no blast walls... Where do they think they are - on a bloody training mission?!
Can't fault Omar for taking advantage of a target-rich environment I suppose... but I for one sure hope that the Officer who just handed it to him on a silver freaking platter feels good about themselves tonight.
Didn't we learn ANY-bloody-THING in 'Nam?
Oh yeah - we forgot, didn't we?
Latest word has it that 10 or more of the 133rd may have been casualties... and I ain't in a mood for politics at the moment.
Thank you, DevSix, for a bit of rational comment on horrible event.
Prayers for the families and friends of the victims, and a prayer for strength and wisdom to the leaders who must make the decisions in this conflict.
I haven't been a mood for politics for some time Uncle Jaque.
If no one else has not seen this coming, I have. I just do not debate it with those they preach everything is peachy and rosy.
time for some serious pay-back time to take off the gloves
What, are we now going to play Israel's game, tit for tat. Ugh!!
latest Casualty report - 24 KIA, 60+ WIA.
Some of those WIA are probably, regrettably, mortally wounded and will join the ranks of the KIA in the next few hours and days.
Local news (Portland ME) just reported that two of the 133rd "may have been among the killed" in the attack.
My Buddy M. is a Member of the same Civil War Reenacting outfit, which is more like an extended Family than a "social club". He was studying to be a History Teacher when the 133rd was called up and deployed to Mosul. We have another 3rd Mainer in the 1st Cav. somewhere West of Bagdhad, last we knew.
I just bought a bunch of instant coffee, ice tea, and stuff to send over to him - a little late for Christmas but no big thing.
Hope he still needs it...
Iraqi students display the Iraqi national flag and shout anti-US slogans during a demonstration against the violence in the northern city of Mosul. The 300 or so students also called for an end to military raids on mosques in the city.(AFP/Mujahed Mohammed)
My guess is that it was an inside job, just like almost every other attack is- someone talks, etc, someone's family is kidnapped, etc. The Iraqi's are basically pretty damn useless, this is not politically correct but i think it's time we bring the war truly to the ' iraqis' full war.
