Why is America upping the hundreds of million$ it already gives the Palestinians!? Arafat's successor is hell-bent on destroying Israel
Yasser Arafat died last month. This month, his death is prompting plans for a foreign aid bounty of $500 million to $1 billion a year for the Palestinians.
That's the scoop Steven R. Weisman published in the New York Times on Dec. 17. He revealed that Western, Arab, and other governments plan to add a 50 to 100 percent bonus to the $1 billion a year they already direct to 3.5 million Palestinians in the territories, contingent upon a crackdown on terrorist groups and the holding of credible elections in January 2005.
(Asked about Weisman's report, White House spokesman Scott McClellan neither confirmed nor denied it. But President George W. Bush did subsequently make some hugely ambitious statements about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict: "I am convinced that, during this term, I will manage to bring peace" and "Next year is very important, as it will bring peace.")
Aid-wise, residents of the West Bank and Gaza have hardly been neglected until now. They receive about $300 per person, making them, per capita, the world's greatest beneficiaries of foreign aid. Strangely, their efforts to destroy Israel have not inspired efforts to crush this hideous ambition but rather to subsidize it. Money being fungible, foreign aid effectively funds the Palestinians' bellicose propaganda machine, their arsenal, their army, and their suicide bombers.

I fail to see how giving away more tax payer dollars to terrorists...cut throats...rapists...murdering child killers...will do anything more than provide them with the currency they need to buy more weapons and kill more Israeli children...
Must be a 'larger picture' sort of payoff...appeasement...it's worked so well in the history of Israel and the world..
They should give non-monetary aid.
Replace the textbooks with ones that do not encourage incitement.
Help promote free press and democracy.
"Why is America upping the hundreds of million$ it already gives the Palestinians!?"
Back in the days of Prohibition in the US, it was called "protection money." We in the US need to get back to our roots, to a time when the saying was "millions for defense, not one cent for tribute." We need Winston Churchills, not Neville Chamberlains.
I wish someone would listen to this man.
The only problem is the "teacher's edition" will have all the answers printed in the margins.
RADICAL CONCEPT ALERT!!!!

This, however, does not faze international aid types. Nigel Roberts, the World Bank's director for the West Bank and Gaza, blows off past failures. Addressing himself to donors, he says, "Maybe your $1 billion a year hasn't produced much, but we think there's a case for doing even more in the next three or four years."
Roberts is saying, in effect: Yes, your money enabled Arafat's corruption, jihad ideology, and suicide factories, but those are yesterday's problems; now, let's hope the new leadership uses donations for better purposes. Please lavish more funds on it to enhance its prestige and power, then hope for the best."

Doing the same thing over and over and over and over, and expecting a different result
Most US aid in targeted through USAID. Unfortunately neither the US nor the Euros object to supporting educational systems nor media which encourage incitement. That has to end.
The cost of that is a "peace process" that won't be able to begin for a decade. No one really want's to address the underlying problem, Arab incitement and refusal to accept Israel inside any borders.
Could be...but I would like know what Condi and Wolfowitz think of it...they are certainly not naive or given to appeasement.
I am guessing it is a ruse. I hope the same is true of the President's use of the term "religion of peace."
These are the people who cheered in the streets dancing and passing out candy on 11 September 2001 while over 3,000 of our fellow countrymen and women perished!!!
They should be made to never ever forget this for generations to come. Every camp, every shack and every mud hut that these subhumans inhabit should be wiped from the face of the planet!
The United States of America is deserving of of any misfortune that befalls our country if we continue to aid and feed our enemies.
Maybe just maybe when a million or more of your fellow countrymen are vaporized in a mushroom cloud will God grant you the insight and wisdom to see what we are up against and what we must do to not only only ensure an era of peace and prosperity but our own survival.
Hmmm... so this is nothing new, then?
What pee's me off is I bust my a$$ for my salary. Where does most of it... yeah, that's right, most of it... go?
I'm helping pay for this shiite.
Its the same ole bureaucracy, the State Dept. is one of many. Just like when we gave the Bolsheviks grain at bargain basement during the Cold War, while at the same time spending millions to fight Soviet imperialism. This is the same script, just a different set of heathens laughing at us all the way to the bank.
