On immigration, Bush once again voiced support for a type of foreign worker card that would allow foreigners working in the United States to visit their home countries without fear of not being allowed back into this country. At the same time, he said there needs to be stronger border enforcement and a crackdown on immigrant smuggling.
"I think this is a issue that will make it easier for us to enforce our borders and I believe it's an issue that will show, when we get it right, the compassion and heart of the American people," Bush said. The card idea, he added, "recognizes the reality in the world in which we live there are some jobs in America that Americans won't do and others are willing to do
this is not automatic citizenship, the American people must understand that."

I have two questions: 1) Did you phone the White House immediately with comments? 2) Should we write hard copy letters to the President or just go ahead and form a third party?
Big mistake, IMO. But, I'm not the President of the United States. Perhaps he has information I don't have.
Okay so now we need to go OVER his head. How can that be done.
Strange, I agree with him about 80% of the time, but on this one issue the man has a blind spot.
There are no jobs that some American won't do for the right price.
To say otherwise is an outright lie.
Should we write hard copy letters to the President or just go ahead and form a third party?

Second verse, same as the first...
Welcome to the Bush immigration policy folies.

Precisely. But Bush has always lived in a mansion; he wouldn't know.

A third party is political masturbation. We have a perfectly serviceable political party in the Republican party. We just need to get em' back on track.
Since the amount of money arrayed against the regular schmoes like us is vast, our objections will be duly noted and the equalization process between the U.S. and the 3rd world will continue.
I believe the President.
Both Parties and business interest have always viewed ILLEGAL immigrants as "guest workers". There's nothing in it for them to make them citizens. Nothing. With visas or without visas (ILLEGAL immgrants) they are all simply, migrant labor.
There was no reason to make them all legal, and good reason to NOT enforce the laws -- until it got out of hand.
Now comes the "guest workers law" which serves but one purpose for both Parties and business interest. To wit, they can look the public in the eye and say, STFU!
Both Parties and business interest want globalization. Migrant labor is a developing country's economic diaspora. It's as much a part of globalization as "free trade" wealth transfers to developing countries. IMO that's the plan.
The fat Elvis has sung and left the building. It's a done deal.
This President stands up for America like no other -- "over there." Here in the U.S. the two Parties own the U.S. and he represents the two Parties. Period. IMO.
Per hilalry's instructions, form a third party.
Perot is old, and not up for a grueling campaign.
And, when and where do we decide to not enforce other laws? If you choose a law you wish to break, let us know what happens . . .
Forget the questions as they don't solve anything. There are about 46 months till the next Presidential election. That isn't a long time Presidential politics to get a 3rd party formed, find a candidate acceptable to enough voters so as to garner the needed Electoral College votes, then get a fund raising apparatus in place to secure the necessary funding, set up state committees to get the candidate on each state ballot, etc, etc, etc. Times a wasting chasing this 'lame duck' President. The Congress is about the only avenue to hold his plans in check. The electorate isn't his concern today nor is hand written letters. Plans need to be put in place today for those that won't to find another party to support and vote for. The longer it's put off the less likely the next President will come from some party other than the Republicans or Democrats....
Good luck........
Probably just trying to pay back Wal Mart after suggesting Americans buy American if they want to lower the trade defecit.
Actually, there is already a third party with ballot position in 40-odd states, a sensible stand on immigration and a number of other issues. It is called the Constitutional Party. I think they broke 1/4th of 1% in the last presidential election.
